The Official 2023/24 Premier League Thread

Results are the name of the game though, what can a result cover up?

Not meaning to be overly devils advocate here but look back to the conference league final last year - Fiorentina played excellent football and walked away losers.

Football isn't origami, it's not always the prettiest most intricate things that wins the competitions and as for who enjoys what the most, it's down to the individual and what they may appreciate about the sport. You can unfold a game plan by giving away a sloppy goal in a quarter of a second but if you can defend for 90 minutes whilst snatching a goal there is something in that for me, it's impressive. I say that as someone who is truly enthused with the way we're moving as a club in an entirely different direction.

Cheers anyways @Grays_1890 thought I'd ask....
.

Asked a mate and have one for ya, will DM you

I think they will change the manager after this year as they will look at the Brightons and Brentford and want something more progressive...

then look like getting relegated and go back to a results first manager, thus the cycle begins again

As a spectator I hate watching the defensive game, it's either very frustrating to see your team bang their collective head against a wall, or nerve shredding fear waiting the inevitable goal when we try it. As a defender when i played I liked a game where we nicked a backs to the wall win.

Thankfully the days of choosing managers from a small pool of PL experience is coming to an end, so unlikely they go for a Big Sam, Pardew etc. Plenty of good young talented managers out there for when they decide to change

I hate tippy tappy football. Passing it back to the gk and around the defense. Possession for the sake of possession. Southgates england.

This is neither. Passing forward, with intent and pace.

Loving it.

Fair summary although I doubt you'd want to watch games that constantly ended 9-8 or 10 - 4 but I could obviously be way off the mark.

It's also a ball ache watching your team conduct wave after wave of attack against a solid defensive unit that simply won't buckle.

I have seen some games like that:
Everton 10-4
Forest 9-2
Liverpool 7-2
Villa 5-5
Wolves 7-4
Reading 6-4
And a surprising amount of 4-4 draws

I'd be happy with those results this season

Moyes is cooking. Chilli con carne, without chilli, carne and Rice. It's a terrible stew, but it's feeding the poor. Perhaps it was a good thing for them that Rice left. No one passing it sideways and backwards, and demanding every ball to go through him. Just whack it upfield and score.
