The Official 2022/23 Premier League Thread

Will there be fireworks and loud music to celebrate King Charles' inevitable passing? Not happy about seeing his beak on our currency.

Says an irreverent colonist.

It seems to be suggested this morning that the funeral will be next Monday 17th
if this is the case I'm not sure why the Saturday games would need to be cancelled

You can't have the plebs distracted. Their emotions need to be managed. I bet no pubs or tourist attractions will be allowed to open on that Monday either. Maybe they'll use legacy lockdown laws to make sure everyone stays in and watches it, clockwork orange style.

To be honest the majority of people in this country would want to watch it
It's a minority who wouldn't

Politics and opinions aside this is history in the making and i find it and how it will all unfold interesting.
Not the pomp and ceremony part of it but the wider aspect, what happens now, where we as a nation go from here.
Its another twist in what is already very interesting times.

Could be right. The Diana one London was deserted - you could do donuts and handbrake turns on the usually most gridlocked of streets. It was fun.

Never look back.

All games cancelled this weekend.

Are MI6 going to have snipers trained on those who don't look sombre enough during the period of enforced mourning?

Why should someone dying whose relatives presumably won a battle a while back stop activities that are vital to people's wellbeing?

We didn't stop football when Bowie died despite countless incredible albums / songs / performances, does the queens waving form have the same effect on people into anti democratic establishments!?

Even by our standards this is dumb.
