The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

And yet...if RVP/Rooney grab a winner and we beat Saudi Sportswashing Machine at home, we'll only be 2 points behind this team of supermen.

with 4 points handed to us on a plate by the award of 2 dodgy penalties. Over the whole season I think they will finish comfortably ahead of us. The gap has grown this season.

they might have conceded a pen at the end. Looked like a clear pull back on the big L.

Its fine margins - and they have something for sure. But they were not much better tonight. Just more effective. When things don't go well for them and they get unlucky, how will they react? That's the key. Will they bounce back or will they lose their cool and balance?

well they didnt sell any world class players and gained one..

No doubt Ramsey is in the form of his life at the moment but lets remember, we are talking about a 12 week purple patch, in a 5 year Arsenal career. He wont keep this up all season, he is simply not good enough to.

Not much better? They were clearly second best...

Being clearly second best away to Dortmund is not a scathing criticism though, most teams will be. Arsenal are undoubtedly in great form and they're looking like a real title challenger. Like you say it will be about how they react when things aren't going their way. Slight worry just how well they responded to that loss against Villa in the opener, but it's a long season still.

Absolutely mate, I'm gutted to see them have the edge over us again. I felt we had the edge for a couple of seasons but we didn't capitalise on it with a higher league finish.

just like when van persie was supposedly going to get injured during the 11-12 season?

the positive is how much the gap HAS closed though, especially over a 10 year period.

Credit to them. They are playing some cracking stuff and it's a bitter pill to swallow because they pipped us by the 1 point again and their fortunes could have so easily been different.

But I just want you all to remember how quickly fortunes can change in this game

Rather Tottenham-esque long range shooting by Dortmund... no wonder they failed to score!

‏@Squawka: In the 1st half, Arsenal had 55% possession and 0 attempts on goal. In the 2nd half they had 46% possession and 4 shots, all in the area.
@Squawka: You want to understand why Arsenal are winning? Look at these shot maps.

You can do that with the results of any team. I seem to remember Arsenal being very fortunate away at Sunderland, for example.

People are blowing their loads over them after 10 games in the league. They are playing at their maximum imo, and there isn't really many points between us and them. This is the season where we get to laugh last, for once. I think we've got some gears to move through as a team, I don't think they have. Reminds me of us in the "mind the gap" season.

Beautifully constructed team goal by Ajax, hopefully Eriksen will be helping to create goals like this for us soon...

Thing is how long will we get away with not scoring that many goals?

As long as we score enough to get 3 points, we'll get away with it I guess. I think we have the potential (in terms of our player's level of ability) to score more than we currently do, and as the season goes on, AVB will find his best combination in attack.

I said this the other day, but it's worth repeating; we've played just 10 games. We can double that number and we'd still only be just over half-way through the season. There is a long way to go.

I'm gonna make two predictions right now, which will probably seem ridiculous. 1. We'll finish above Arsenal. 2. They won't finish in the top 4. I think they'll peak too early and lose the war. Just my opinion.
