I don't know what Mourinho is upto on this. It really isn't up for debate, Mata has been their best player for the last 2 seasons and he can easily play alongside Oscar in that starting 11. They looked at their most dangerous last season when Oscar, Mata and Hazard were interchanging across that front 3 behind the forward.
This scenario adds a bit more creedance to the thoughts that maybe the Madrid episode has damaged his thought process more than perhaps we can see.
It is very unlikely and I don't know what budget we would have to spend but I would go in big for Mata if we could in January. Chelsea could be conceited enough to just cut their losses and make us pay over and above what they did for him. Him and Soldado together again would be amazing.
