Cheeky bid for Messi.

Still I'm glad the premiership isnt as unbalanced as La Liga, its ridiculous how far out in front those 2 are.

shawcross up to his usual tricks again. he seems to get away with a giving away stone wall pen virtually every game

if i was reffing stoke i'd be watching him like a hawk in the box

Boyhood Everton Fan Rooney goes to watch them in the Cup. fudge that, I'd love to have his talent. Start playing for Spurs, then tell all the other clubs to fudge off, I'll never leave Tottenham. In fact I'd play for them for nothing!

Rooney, fan my arse.

So you'd be happy to go bankrupt and live on benefits while playing for Spurs, eh?

So would I, actually. It would be a step up from just being plain bankrupt, anyway.

just watching the highlights of the stoke game, what the fudge is pulis on, delaps tackle was horrendous and fully deserving of a straight red

just because the ref fudged up and missed one in a pervious game doesn't mean he shouldn't handle the next one correctly

From what I can make out of article, when asked about Van Persie and Bale

"Those players are very good, but we always need common sense in any negotiations," said Bartomeu. "We will not enter the madness market but it is impossible for Barcelona to pay 40 or 50 million Euros for any player.

"This is a decision of the club. We can't fight against every club. But we have an advantage in that players want to come and play for Barcelona."

The slimy bastards are starting their work already

I haven't seen those teams play in those times, but if they were to play each other in their prime, who do you think would come out on top?

Would the Real team of the 50's have the same modern boots, balls and pitches as Barca have today? The same training regimes, diets, fitness coaches and injury treatments? Would they fly from domestic match to match as Barca do today, or go by bus? Would they have to play the number of games modern teams do? Could the 50's Real team buy and sell players with the abandon modern teams do?

I just don't think it's even within a million miles of being possible to make head-to-head comparisons. I think the best you can do is look at the level of dominance a given team had in their era over the teams around them, and decide which era of dominance was greatest. In that sense, I think Barca have some way to go to match Real and Liverpool (and perhaps other teams in other eras: Ajax, Manyoo, Munich, AC Milan...they've all had golden periods too that might match up).
