Wigan has banned 17 fans as a result of incidents during last weekend's derby victory at Bolton. Didn't realise they had that many.

They don't... they had to borrow some Rugby fans to misbehave!! It was 'cos they had FLARES apparently... typical fudging Northern in-breds still think it's 1978!!

(ahem I own a pair of flares... I too am guilty of falling to fashion!)

Evra being rested due to 'media attention'. Poor boy.

Considering Suarez is still held in high regard by the Ajax fans he would have been booed through out the game by idiots.
Instead of putting this whole thing the bed, that would needlessly inflame the whole thing again.

The Ajax-Manu game is quite entertaining, I think Ajax should have had a penalty just before half time there.

Mainly watching to have a look at Vertonghen. He looks class. Hasn't really been tested in the air against Rooney and Hernandez, but he's tall and looks strong, shouldn't have any problems with the physical aspects of the PL. Quick as well and very good and confident on the ball, commentators saying that he plays as a defensive midfielder for Belgium, heard he's played as a left back as well and he looks like he should be comfortable in both those positions based on this game. Has put in some very good tackles. I think Ajax are defending a bit naively at times, gambling on some risky offsides to bail them out, but I don't think Vertonghen can be blamed for that at all.

Really hoping we go for him in the summer.

Jan's sold himself short once pretty badly when he tried to nick a ball off Rooney but apart from that it's been encouraging.

Eriksen fairly quiet but a few good touches and moves

Channel five coverage is awful.

Stoke team: Begovic; Wilkinson, Shawcross, Huth, Wilson; Pennant, Palacios, Delap, Etherington; Walters, Crouch
Valencia team: Guaita, Bruno, Rami, Dealbert, Mathieu, Feghouli, Topal, Tino Costa, Piatti, Jonas, Aduriz

Emirates Marketing Project: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Barry, De Jong, Nasri, Y. Toure, Silva, Balotelli
Porto: Helton, Danilo, Maicon, A. Pereira, Rolando, L. Gonzalez, J. Moutinho, J. Rodriguez, Fernando, Hulk, Varela

Sad to have to hope City goes through, but they need all the distractions they can get at the moment. Some minor injuries would be nice.

Ajax disappointing. Nothing really comes off when you've got a brick immobile Russian up front, we know this more than most.

On to the next....

Pretty much full strength City team, looks like they're taking this one seriously. Looking forward to Varela, he tends to outperform Hulk every time I see Porto play...

lol at ITV graphics putting the city line up in a 4-4-2 with Balo and Yaya Toure up front :-k
