The Match of the Day Thread

I think it’s most likely the complete opposite and they will go for a non-white male to host it. Probably Alex Scott. The guy who hosts MOTD2 would be a good replacement, Mark Pougatch is it? Just as long as someone gets it on merit I’m quite open minded.

Jermain jenas had his name on it till he f'ed up.

Can't see how so, BBC is full of left wingers (more so than Spurs!).
Probably making way as his time is up pure and simple, bit like Jeff Stelling leaving Soccer Saturday.

The DG is a frothing tory boy who has long had it in for Lineker and his liberal tweets. I think it almost certainty that's whats at play here, a bit of payback for his mates.

I think Alex Scott would be great.

Kelly Cates would be better if it’s a woman. Or Gabby Logan. Or long as it’s not Eni Aluko. Mark Chapman would be the most logical.

Copa Libertadores Final on BBC3 at the moment. 51 first half minutes of top class diving and feigning injury so far.

It was brilliant tbf, straight red card in the 1st minute, a veritable feast of obscure veteran Brazilian former Everton players and Hulk, fans of either side crying tears of joy / despair at a throw in being awarded, players and managers alike brandishing yellow cards. Plus the tactical insight of Vickery, the barsteward who got us all hyped up for the damp squid that was Paulinho.

Botafogo deserved it though. I'm not really sure about the red card, but I guess VAR confirmed it. Surely it's reckless self endangerment to stoop so low with your head there, comms said duty of care comes into it but it seemed a reasonable ball to go for, unless some macaron sticks his head there...

It was a very enjoyable football match and I was glad Botafogo got over the line.

Great hustle from Santos at the end.
