Ange did this to us when he first took over when we played Fulham. That day he made 8 changes and lost. Today he made 10 changes, and the only consistent selection from the weekend had to change his position from LB to centre half.

How can anyone defend managers that do this and then lose football matches?

"There were a lot of players out there who needed some football"

Well they won't get football in the next round as you made too many changes again.

I think that's harsh. Firstly, he needs to have a look at his squad - he's not had a pre season with them, it's better to do it in the League cup than the league or Europe.

And secretly he's probably happy to be out of it, not saying he wanted them to lose of course but they don't have a particularly deep squad as evidenced in this game so PL and EL will be the focus, this cup which never likely to win just a distraction (and yes waiting for comments about how will just end up focusing on Europa :D)

As an aside, I will say the way Frank has rotated the squad has been impressive. Will be more interesting in a couple of months time when likely more injuries picked up, but so far so good....

It's not actually harsh for the very reasons you cite Frank for. Rotation is subtle and used in a way that keeps players fresh. You can make minimal changes and constant rotation and not disrupt things too much. Pep is the master of doing exactly that.

You might be right about this competition being a distraction though. Forest have great memories of being in Europe and I can see why that one is a higher priority.

I do have a feeling that Ange's record of winning a trophy in his second season will stay intact at Forest though. Rightly or wrongly, I have a feeling he won't make it to season 2 with that chairman. At least we gave him 2 seasons, financial backing and learnt what we needed to know about his shortfalls as a coach.

Frank had all pre season to give all his squad games and know who can do what to an extent, Ange hasn't had that luxury - I don't think the two are comparable, that's why managers always talk about the importance of having a pre season at the club.

But yes I'm not sure Ange will last that long at Forest, I'd like to see him do well but with what we have seen he is not changing his ways....
