Anyone watching Mansfield or Wrexham yesterday should be bricking it. Both excellent and took the fight to good opposition. Teams in lower leagues capable of going up a gear when they really want to. We will be everyone’s cup final next season if we go down - no certainty to come up by any means. Mansfield are 16th in league 1 and gave Arsenal a much better game than us (yes I know it was their 2nd team).

Exactly this. If relegation comes, I’ll swallow it and try and find some positives but The Championship will be fudging hard.
The other point is, even if we come back up, we won’t come up as a top 6 or even top half club. The likes of Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Villa struggled in the lower half for years after they came up (one season for Saudi Sportswashing Machine under Pardew excepted).
Relegation and even promotion changes our expectations dramatically.
