The Goon Thread

To be honest for last 16 they are all solid teams. I'm happy for them to get through a couple more rounds as long as they don't win it lol
It might be better that they stay in , especially after going out of the domestic cups very early. They've avoided fixture congestion and that's probably contributed to them having virtually no injuries.
As you said though , they could go on and win it. Imagine that , a PL and European double !

Jesus, if he gets convicted, they're gonna be pilloried. Remember the brick Sunderland got for playing Adam Johnson in a couple of games after he ended up in trouble.

To give a bit of balance, it's a tough one because the guy hasn't been found guilty of anything so is it right to punish him when, as far as the law is concerned, he's an innocent man. Look at Mendy.

That said, it really won't be a good look for them if he is ultimately brought to trial and found guilty.

They owe a duty of care to the women in and around the football club.

They would be absolutely to blame if he raped a female employee because, to them, points are more important than morals.

If you weren’t King of the Universe and worked like the rest of us peasants and a girl made an allegation against you, would you expect your employer to put you on some sort of leave?

If they win the league they won't care
Win at all costs with Arsenal !!

If it was an allegation serious and credible enough for me to be interviewed under police caution, yes.

Isn't it pretty standard in these sortts of situations for the accused to be suspended with pay until charged/on trial?

Trivializing sexual assault to the point of using it as a means of taking credit away from Arsenal isn't a good look.

Let's be sensible, if every PL team had to suspend every player under accusations of various misdemeanors sexual or otherwise there'd barely be a game with XI versus XI and full benches. The players are great at football but usually fairly awful / spoiled people.

I don't think it's being trivialised - i think people are just disgusted that a player who has been accused by multiple different women of *struggle cuddle* is still being played by his club as though nothing has happened.
A very key player and one of the reasons they have played as well as they have this season too !!

I think matching the number of accusations to what level of match ban the player would receive is trivialization defined but hey ho.

The police have interviewed the accused and cases were dropped weren't they? I'm not well informed on the happenings to say but certain people only really care enough to post because it's an Arsenal player.

I'm not saying the legal system is perfect, nor the footballers (that should be clear as I think they are clams for the most part) but it seems like selective outrage that is convenient to belittling local rivals.

No, he's still under investigation for the original accusations and today it was reported there was a second woman who has come forward with new accusations which he is also now being investigated over.
There was a third woman who accused him back in the summer but it was abroad and so he couldn't be investigated as he had left the country.

As is my understanding of things

Appreciate the added details. It still doesn't seem sound to be more annoyed by how it benefits arsenal rather than the supposed lack of justice for the victims (obviously not aimed at yourself).

Not that it makes it okay and comparisons probably don't help / aren't necessarily appropriate but C. Ronaldo would have only played half the games he did if he was suspended whilst under sexual assault / *struggle cuddle* charges - Football isn't more important than people being abused but unfortunately a combination of TV rights / Lawyers means that things just carry on as they are and are swept under the carpet.

But re Partey, obviously everything is still at an "allegedly" point, and because of that, using it to discredit L'arse is pretty tasteless imo.

But the guy is innocent at this moment in time. It is possible that he's actually innocent. Should anyone accused of *struggle cuddle* be suspended from work? If so, that's a very, very dangerous precedent.
