Yet the press are not ramping up the pressure on Arsenal by constantly linking their players away unless they get champions league. They way they came after us clearly destabilised us.
 
BRENDAN RODGERS has opened the door to Arsenal after admitting there is a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if a big offer came in for him.

Rodgers is among the top targets for the Gunners as they search for a replacement for Unai Emery who was sacked last week.

And the Leicester manager confirmed that there is something written into his deal with the club which could see him leave to take up another job.

After his side secured a dramatic late win over Everton to stay second in the Premier League, Rodgers said: "Listen, there are probably clauses in most managers' contracts.

"It's all hypothetical. We got a brilliant win. We came back very well.

"I made a change eight, nine months ago. I feel so happy. We still have a lot of work to do.


"I've been very fortunate to work with some brilliant clubs and great institutions. The ambition was to help the club to arrive in the top six."

It is thought Leicester would demand in the region of £14million compensation from any club hoping to snatch their manager.

The Foxes would fight as hard as possible to keep hold of the 46-year-old, who they snatched from Celtic last season.

They would also try to persuade their manager that with the Foxes currently well placed in the table, there is a greater prospect of playing Champions League football next season if he stays put.


Arsenal director Josh Kroenke has said they will take as long as is needed to bring the right person in, insisting there is no need to rush with Freddie Ljungberg in interim charge.


Ljungberg's first game as boss saw a 2-2 draw at Norwich which leaves Arsenal down in eighth place, seven points adrift of Chelsea in fourth.

And with Jose Mourinho showing signs of making an immediate impact at fourth placed Tottenham, the Gunners know they face a difficult fight to climb up into the Champions League places.

Ex-Juventus boss Max Allegri, Mauricio Pochettino and Patrick Vieira have all been heavily backed to take control.

Arsenal and Everton 'showing interest' in Marcelino
Former Valencia boss Marcelino could be set for a spell in the Premier League after reportedly attracting interest from both Arsenal and Everton .

Marcelino led Valencia back into the Champions League last term and masterminded victory over Barcelona in the final of the Copa del Rey.

But a fallout with owner Paul Lim saw him lose his job in September and Valencia currently sit eighth in La Liga.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a new boss after axing Unai Emery following last week’s Europa League defeat to Eintracht Franfurt.

Even Redknapp would do a better job. Actually, I'd quite like Redknapp there; the Redknapp without any financial restraint that is.
