The Goon Thread

you can't assume absolutes, but clearly, you are not gonna win the league with sneezy in goal, and it would be relatively trivial to improve on him

Wengers determination to give players a chance to improve is admirable, but there comes a time when you have to accept they are not good enough and move them on

I agree with the gist of that but Wenger will point to Ramsey and Rosicky and say, "Zee I told you there waz a good player in there", and conveniently ignore that fact that both have been **** for longer than they have been good. Wenger is their greatest asset and bizarrely the biggest thing holding them back when it comes to trophies. I can't decide whether I want him to **** off or not :-k

i don't want him o leave, unless he has a total change of tune he's always going to have them closer to the sides below than the sides above - a new guy coming in might be able to close the gap between them and the title chasing sides

I kinda see it the opposite way - I think any new guy has a Moyes problem on his hands. Could take time.

Wenger would have made a great Spurd boss. So wrapped up in trying to play football and do it the right way, that winning becomes incidental.

I'm sure Wenger believes in his failures is an echo of glory.

i suspect wenger believes that playing football in that "attractive" way is the most effective way of winning. if someone was to convince him that playing an "uglier" style would be more effective, i think he'd switch up arsenal's playing style in an instant.

I was gonna add this in to my post actually - as United have shown it is a good possibility that after such a long time replacing the manager could have an initial negative effect.

Id be more worried about the positives (from their view) of him going than hopeful of the negative

@OptaJoe: 14 - Crystal Palace (14) have won more points from their last 10 Premier League games than Arsenal (13). Surprise.

Arsenal have lost an Appeal Court bid to build a 25-storey tower next to its Emirates Stadium.

Three top judges unanimously rejected an appeal by its property arm Ashburton Trading Ltd. to build the tower in Hornsey Road, Islington.

A local government planning inspector originally approved consent for the tower, claiming it would not be out of scale with its surroundings.

But last July, High Court judge David Mackie upheld the London Borough of Islington's appeal.

Arsenal, who claim the proposed tower is part of the regeneration of the area and would not be out of place, asked the Appeal Court to reinstate the original permission.

In dismissing the appeal Master of the Rolls Lord Dyson, sitting with Lord Justice Davis and Lady Justice Gloster, said the decision of the judge was 'unimpeachable.'

They accepted the judge's findings that tall buildings did not fit in with Islington's policy that buildings over 30 metres were 'generally inappropriate' to the 'predominantly medium to low level character' of the area.

Steve Bould has significantly improved #AFC's defence this season, says injured winger Theo Walcott.

I guess that's why they've scored less and conceded more this season compared to last... :-k

Karma' a bitch eh!

The parable of the tortoise and the hare springs to mind...

No 4th and he's got to strongly consider walking. We've had collapses before but this one would take the cake if we end up 5th, and he takes the blame. Overusing particular players leading to injuries at the same crucial time, failing to bring anyone in in January, tactical faults leading to 4 hammerings this season. It's not good enough.

As people have been saying they want Martinez in, I have a question...

Would Martinez leave Everton for us if they finished 4th and us 5th?

Nope. He's too loyal and he's already invested so much into Everton

He needs to go. He's taken the joy out of watching and supporting arsenal.

This kind of collapse has made our club into a laughing stock and is simply inexcusable given the number of seasons it has happened now. To go from being top in February to not even having 4th in our hands is disgusting enough on its own but when you factor in the multiple big defeats to our rivals it shows he doesn't have control over what's happening. He's done.

I wouldn't be surprised if Utd caught us after we've been laughing at them having the mother of all horrid seasons.

You cannot trust him to deliver when it matters anymore.

When we got the injuries I posted on here our season is over, that's what happened. Critical factor for me.

The question is why does it happen without fail year on year?

And for me, its the tip of the iceberg, there are other serious factors here which Wenger refuses to address.

Why not try and get Lars in January rather than loaning someone who in no way shape or form be considered as an addition over the Summer. I dont know anymore if I want Wenger to stay or go.

If I knew he was going to add the players we needed in the Summer yes, if he isn't looking to do that, then I don't see how we'd get CL next year with Utd and Everton strengthening in the Summer unless we go a season without injuries to the very few good players we have.

So many disinterested players today.

i also see that a lot of people are happy to challenge for a 4th spot and being heavily trashed by our rivals.

It all sounds so familiar.

Arsenal will finish 4th still have an easy run in and will win FA Cup. That said they are almost as far away from winning the title as we are.

Agree with Rob, scum will get 4th no doubt about it, they'll get some dodgy decisions go in their favour if it's still dicey with a couple of games left. Everton will get royally screwed in the last game of the season if they are above scum mark my words.
