The glorious march to CL qualification

I think it's exaggerated a bit, to be fair. We lost at home to ManU, a match we should've won judging by the chances we created. We weren't great against Burnley, but we were largely the better side and didn't deserved to lose. We were brick away to Chelsea, agree with that. We got a point at home to Scum, could've gone either way, really - agree, not a great game, but derbies rarely are. Then we did amazingly well away to Dortmund. Somehow we lost to So'ton, we should've been at least 2-0 at half time - but I agree, second half there was brick. And then now against Liverpool, just margins away from winning there - and putting up a real fight no one expected.

Not saying we've been at our best lately, but we haven't been completely brick either. Apart from Chelski away, we've had periods in every game where we've looked the most likely team to win. I think we just need a bit of a boost, an early goal against Palace, get the fans behind the team, get a win, the winds back in the sails a bit, new stadium boost - and we get going again. Not impossible at all. Things change quickly in football. A week from now and we could all be buzzing from just having won vs Palace and City, mind! :D :)

The Chelsea game was horrendous
1 shot on target from both sides the whole game
Yet people have said their in good form
Arsenal in paper are in food form but now they have a run of challenging away games which will show us where their at
As you say, things change quickly in football

Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs of late are mediocre at best for "top six sides".
As losing streaks go, ours has been unforgivable.
In 'slight' mitigation as I'm a fan, unlucky injuries and we haven't had a pot to tinkle in transfer wise.

I can though not use this a mitigation for the state of Chelsea and to a lesser extent Arsenal.

Tomorrow night is huge for Pochettino and some senior players and lets us not be under any illusions, it will be a tough night!

Absolutely this.

Palace are a GHod awful side to be playing. They look, on paper, as beatable. A glance at the table suggests its a winnable fixture at home. The manager never strikes me as a master tactician either.
And yet they have some very, very good attacking talent that can easily cause our ropey right side problems. Ol' Wilf must be licking his lips at the thought of squaring up against Tripps!
Batshuayi is hitting some form for both club and country (the pessimist in me is throwing a few quid on him for first goal, such is the Chelsea link and all that scripted jinx bollox!)
And with Andros and Wan-Bissaka keeping Rose occupied on our left, this is going to be a difficult night.

They'll sit back, soak up the pressure and try to dampen the spirits then hit us on the break. If the boys get carried away with the furore of the stadium opening and lose concentration, we'll be punished.

Sadly I can see a frustrating night ending in a 1-1 draw. Not enough in the circumstances.

We all expected Woolwich to beat Saudi Sportswashing Machine last night and most of us expected not to get anything at Anfield; likewise Man U will probably get at least a point at Wolves tonight to push us back into 5th. So tomorrow is the point that we take destiny into our own hands. I still maintain that 18 points i.e. 6 wins affording 1 loss at Emirates Marketing Project will definitely be enough for top 4 and 16 points will probably be enough.

That said this is our worst run of form (over a 5-game period) since the '2 points from 8 games' streak in August - Oct 2008. Poch presser suggests Winks might be back but the problems remain that we are desperately papering over the cracks of having a significant weakness at right back and a big hole in deep central midfield which has now been exaggerated by the development of seemingly highly competent defenders making huge unforced errors leading to goals (Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez and Rose) in the last month.

The midfield problem is a physical issue and the mistakes are mental. I've n doubt that our front 4 of Sonny, Eriksen, Dele and Kane will still create and take chances but only if we have the foundations and stability in deeper areas.

Hodgson is pragmatic enough to know where we can be hurt and he'll know that if Zaha has enough exposure at our defence on the break they'll fancy their chances of scoring.

For the record Batshuayi was our first goalscorer at Wembley (as a home venue) - he scored the own goal equaliser in the chelsea match last August!

Big 45 minutes coming at Molineux....a win for Wolves and we stay in the top 4 overnight; either way if we beat Palace then we go back into 3rd and would actually then have some momentum.

I think its easy to forget that 2 of the big 6 have to miss out on CL every season (unless they win Europa league as Man U did in 2017). Us and Emirates Marketing Project are the only two to have done it in each of the last 3 seasons. If we don't miss out this season (i don't think we will) we will soon because we're still competing against 5 behemoths. It has barely impacted the others...they haven't lost their best players and in fact have been able to sign players from other CL clubs despite not being in it. From a business and football perspective we just need to make sure that if were to miss out it would't have a big impact.

You think we will finish 3rd still?
Yep
Arsenal really have to turn a corner in their away games to finish above us IMO.. they got over excited again last night and forget what happens the last time they went above us

We have started to play well but not got the results which is the reverse of Chelsea and United who remind me of us 6 weeks ago (getting results but okaying poorly) and they play each other and city

Is it that silly a suggestion?

I just think if, as expected, we lose away to Emirates Marketing Project, Arsenal would have to drop at least five points in their remaining fixtures for us to finish above them. And that’s without us dropping any more points between now and the end of the season (other than against City).

Thats logical big even on their best form this season they didn’t pull in maximum points

I stand by what I’ve saod before, we match our previous vs everyone we play in the run in we get 79 points. That’s top 4 and IMO top 3

People seem to think arse, Chelsea and united will win every game

Tonight showed the challenge playingbtwmaa like Wolves for example or Leicester who have won 3 on the spin or Everton now chasing 7th for Europe

If we get the 4th place trophy I really don't care who from the others get in.
