We are coming over to London for a week in August from Oz (doing a bit of Europe too) and I managed to get her tix for the stage show on the only day that she could have made it (which also happens to be my 50th birthday). I don't think Spurs will have a mid week game in August,top 4 go staight into the Champs League now,and with the new ground i wont be surprised we be playing away till the first week of September. We may have a friendly of sorts to get a health and safety certificate for the ground.

Yeah , I’m clutching at straws ! Arrive 19th August and leave 29th but got family birthday stuff involved . Already told the mrs that I’m going to NWHL if there’s a game , even if I miss my own 50th party !!

Hard when you fly from other side of world as they expect you to spend every minute with them (which I love to do , but they don’t all get the Spurs thing for me)

But Hamilton tickets have got a bit of a crack-down to stop touting in that you only get the tickets on the night, with the card you used to book them, so it's in theory not possible to sell them on. There are a few of those booths about. We've been to a few things over the years, and are only just outside London. There's quite often not a lot for a bargain basement price these days though. returns are still full price etc for the big shows.

If network goes to the west end i would say go for it. For a decent seat your looking at £80 these days at the theatre.

We have one in Brighton then a couple more booked in London in the summer but for what your paying you could probably do a week on the costas.

The amazing Mark Rylance often says his plays must have affordable tickets, big friend of Corbyn so I understand.

Mate has a box already , hopefully he’ll find out first so at least I can sort plans. Hate to sit around hoping there’s a chance if it isn’t going to happen.

Only other day I’m there is Monday 10th sept as I fly back here GHod next day ...... slim pickings for me I guess !

Anyway , theatre it will be and beers with any of you lot who might be around !

So we saw The Birthday party last night. Great cast all at the top of their game. Not sure I ever completely get Pinter plays. But I enjoy the angry odd balls he has in them, I dont know why.
 
Got Hamilton tickets for August when we’re over . My daughter will be so chuffed , this and Harry Potter over two days .

BTW she’s 17 and at Uni but has studied drama and is a qualified piano teacher so it’s all weird to me . No music or art in my family !

Funny thing is she’s studying Law and International Relations at Uni , the least artistic subjects ever.

Saw Of Mice and Men tonight in the Theatre Royal Brighton tonight.

Really good and thought provoking play which despite being quite old is still relevant today. I was also tested because I guess a local school are doing the book at school and the were about 50 school kids in who ate all the way through, talked and fidgeted non stop. But I did not shout or swear at anyone, so bonus points for me.
 
Went to see The Price, with david suchet in it.

Brilliant play absolutely loved it, we did the matinee so we could have dinner with friends after who have to catch a flight in the morning, my first matinee and I liked it, not full of old people like I thought and we still got home in time for me to get up early tomorrow to take the lad to tennis.

Went to eat at a south Korean place called chickensour in seven dials, was a bit meh for me but nice company.

The play was thought provoking, taking themes from missed opportunities which is something I am thinking about a lot at the moment. Is funny how you go to a play and if it is a good play you can take something away from it and think about things in your life and challenges you to look at things in a different way.

My favourite line was when one of the brothers said to the other "some men dont bounce" when talking about how their father never recovered from the economic depression.

Also when the same one says, you throw some things out the window but they just come back under the door. I took this to mean about problems in life, you think your getting rid of a problem but it can creep back up on you.

Really good play and I recommend you go and see it if you get the chance. Theatre is something we do really well in this country and I am not talking about the fcuking musical crap, although she has got us tickets to see something about grounded planes in Canada after 9/11 which is meant to be a feel good musical, I am suspicious about it.

Said I would only go and see it if we could see the only fools and horses play, we walked back past the theatre that was showing at and the was the yellow reliant robin parked outside with blow up dolls in the back seat. Guess to promote it. Apparently our very own chas of chas and dave fame wrote some of the songs in it before his death. Not as classy as some of the theatre the wife has got me into but it is part of our culture heritage so will have to try and make it along at some point.

Also Paul Whitehouse is a big Spurs fan and I expect will be by far the best thing in it.
 
Some indifferent reviews for the only fools and horses play, but I got to say I would like to go watch it because it sounds like a fun night out.
 
So we saw All About Eve tonight at the Noel Coward theatre.

All about an ageing actress and her understudy who tries to worm her way into her life and the lengths she has to go to get her dream. Was outstanding and Gillian Anderson who I have had a crush on for years is Brilliant. Good supporting cast as well.

We are staying in town tonight because frankly we have had enough of the rush back to Victoria and we are booked in for lunch at Simpsons on the strand tomorrow afternoon. Hoping the Beef is as good as I remember, with it being St paddies day and being married to an Irish (sometimes lady) we will have to have a drink.

Well worth it, really well acted. Good story and told from the female perspective about the importance we place on looks and age, the wife loved it.

One downside was no interval and though I am ok I do find it awkward to sit for 2 and a half hours. My legs can stiffen. Noel Coward is one of our better theatres. Got a few more booked up this year. I really do love the theatre now, something to thank my wife for getting me into.

Are you going to see Lenham Brothers? I think Sam Mendes is a great but again due to my health which to be fair is not to bad, but I am just not sure I could sit there for that amount of time.

Our very own Kenneth Branagh did a season at the Garrick a couple of years ago and I got to see the play he did with Rob Brydon but missed the other two, am hoping he will do a season again and would go and watch everyone.

SWEAT sounds a little like the sort of play I am trying to write. Yes I am trying to write a play, is fun and I will never show it to anyone but I enjoy writing. Is set in the staff room over one day and the characters are all people I have met along the way in my life, I think it lacks direction if I am honest.

The great thing about theatre is it makes me think more then any movie or t.v. show has ever done. SWEAT sounds like one of those.
