The all new Juniors/on-loan thread 2013/14

I dont think either will make it in the PL and, given its a squad game nowadays, I dont think either are likely to be good enough as a back-up RB. The loan looks good for Fredricks though - will get him games and help us sell him perhaps in teh summer

I think that is a bit harsh. Naughton whilst not pulling up any trees is a reliable Right back and I see him at the same level as Stephen Kelly who had a fairly good few season at premiership level.

Fredericks is a tough one. He is still very young and not been tested at league level yet. But in his cameo apperance for us I was impressed by him. He look fast and athlethtic and also seemed to have a good delivery on him as well. I have more hope for him as a back up than Naughton and have hopes he can push walker in the future.

Our Under-21s suffered a 2-0 defeat at Stoke City in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League on Friday.

The lads dominated in terms of possession but struggled to carve open the Stoke defence in game of few chances at Clayton Wood.

Stoke capitalised via a set-piece just after the hour and although we continue to push forward, home goalkeeper Dale Eve wasn't serious tested. In end, Stoke caught us on the break to secure victory in injury time.

Grant Ward went closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half. He won possession with Souleymane Coulibaly and let fly from the edge of the box, his effort cannoning back off the crossbar.

Our best spell of the half also saw Giancarlo Gallifuoco stride out of defende before firing over, Coulibaly head just over from Ruben Lameiras' free-kick and Milos Veljkovic's goalbound shot blocked by Edward Saunders.

At the other end, James Alabi's runs across our defensive line caught the eye but Stoke were restricted to one half-chance as Alex Grant headed over from Ryan O'Reilly's free-kick.

The second half followed the same pattern - we were in control of the ball, Stoke solid defensively - but the Potters struck the crucial opening goal on 62 minutes.

Charlie Ward clipped a free-kick into the danger area, the ball fell to Grant on the right angle and the centre-back managed to hook the ball back over Jon Miles and into the far corner.

Coulibaly glanced Kenny McEvoy's cross over soon after and our best chance arrived on 71 minutes when high pressing from substitute Roman Michael-Percil won possession, Coulibaly took over and shot low at goal - Saunders threw himself in to block.

We ended the match with three up front and with the game stretched, Stoke took advantage in the final seconds. Joel Taylor drove forward from half-way, cut onto his left foot and curled beyond Miles for 2-0.

Spurs U21s:

Miles

A McQueen, Ball, Gallifuoco, Stewart

McEneff (Michael-Percil, 69), Veljkovic (Walkes, 85), Ward (D McQueen, 80)

McEvoy, Coulibaly, Lameiras

Under-21s vs Reading postponed

Our home match against Reading in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League, scheduled for Bishop's Stortford FC on Monday, January 27, has been postponed.

This is due to Reading's involvement in the U21 Premier League Cup.

BTW, does anyone know why Spurs didn't enter the U21 Premier League Cup this season?

I've not found anything about this on the official site.

LOAN WATCH

Ryan Fredericks exploded onto the scene at Millwall, scoring the winner on his debut on another busy weekend for our loanees.

Full-back Ryan, who joined the Championship side on loan on Friday, sent in a lofted ball from the right wing position which flew into the top corner five minutes before half-time in the Lions’ home match against Ipswich Town.

It proved to be the only goal of the game, giving Ian Holloway his first win as Millwall manager.

Elsewhere in the Championship on Saturday, Benoit Assou-Ekotto claimed an assist for Queens Parks Rangers’ winning goal as the R’s saw off Huddersfield Town 2-1.

Benoit’s corner was turned home by team-mate Charlie Austin 11 minutes from time to put the hosts in front for a second time in the game. Benoit played the full game, as did midfielder Tom Carroll.

Also celebrating a victory was defender Bongani Khumalo, who played 90 minutes in Doncaster Rovers’ 3-0 win against Wigan Athletic.

Jon Obika stepped off the bench for Brighton & Hove Albion with 11 minutes of their away fixture at Derby County remaining, but the forward was unable to prevent his side from slipping to a 1-0 defeat.

Alex Pritchard, Grant Hall and Ryan Mason were all in the Swindon Town side which lost 2-0 at Gillingham in League One, the latter duo being substituted in the second half, while Shaq Coulthirst maintained a watching brief from the bench as Leyton Orient went back to the top of the table with a 2-1 win at Crewe Alexandra.

In the Premier League, Jake Livermore played 90 minutes for Hull City in their 1-0 defeat at Norwich City while, in Spain, Iago Falque was an unused substitute for Rayo Vallecano in their 2-0 reverse at Elche.

Cristian Ceballos was similarly inactive on the bench for FC Arouca, as they lost 2-1 to Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.

Tottenham starlet Dombaxe on youth loan at Wanderers

WANDERERS have taken Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Laste Dombaxe on a work experience loan.

The Angola-born 18-year-old featured as a second-half substitute for the development squad in this evening’s 2-0 defeat to Southampton at Leyland.

Dombaxe has made five appearances for the Spurs Under-21s this season and also sat on the bench for the senior side in a Europa League game against Anzi in December.

The youngster has been on Tottenham’s books since 2011

What's the difference between a loan and a work experience loan?

Will they have him make coffee and cut the grass at the training ground or something?

The daily star and its "sources" believe that Sherwood would be willing for Alex Pritchard to leave the club for just £500k. That's right, arguably the next best prospect to come out of the academy, one of our best perfomers from the Next Gen series a while back, the same lad who had Real and Barca asking questions as well as Liverpool (iirc) is available to Championship teams for £500k. I guess their "sources" are monkeys on type writers.

Interestingly though, he has played 31 games this year and has amassed 5 goals and 15 assists. Very good stats for a young lad in that division. Gives me more reason to believe the "sources" are BS, as no one would willingly sell a youngster who is getting that number of goals/assists.

500 ****ing thousand!?

Didn't we let Luongo go for that much!? That'd be as stupid as that deal was.

At the daily star the manatees pick randomly coloured eggs to create rumours. Each egg contains a players name or a club.

That Luongo deal really could come back to bite us in teh ****. Hopefully we were sensible enough to put a sell-on clause in his contract

It was rumoured that he was sold to get around Swindon's loan limit, and there is a nominal buy-back clause.

Should take a look at Liverpool's handling of their youth prospect Tom Ince, before we make a decision to sell Alex Pritchard
