But equally with a new boss most people would see that as a fresh start and also at bare minimum assess whether they like the new manager, he could be the best person to walk into your career?

I think Ndombele is a very shy person and finds it hard to build bridges. It's on the pitch he gets to express himself, but even then he looks like someone with other stuff on his mind half the time.

From the club's pov I hope it's not another big transfer gone bad, we can't really afford it.

Couldn't agree more. He's one of the best players I've seen in a Spurs shirt. Having said that, English football and football in general were quite different back then and one (genius) player could make all the difference by himself. I'm not sure I could name 5 players who could single handedly lead an ok team to an FA Cup final these days.

Not because he hasn't performed, because when he's played, he has delivered goals, assists, shown brilliant skill and created chances. He's a waste, as you call it, because somehow the manager does not want any kind of creativity in midfield, so he doesn't play.

Yup, whilst Ndombele seems to be one of the handful of players I’ve seen with the raw talent to reach those heights the continued concerns over his attitude from multiple managers suggest he’ll never fulfil his true potential.

So that is all four of our managers who have had issues with him. I suspect the reason for his abjectnesss lies solely with him and no one else.

Do you seriously believe that? Three managers dropped him when available plus another who had to make all kinds of excuses for him seeing as he couldn't drop him since he had bought him himself? Do you honestly think that if he was so crucial to the team they would bite off their nose to spite their face? And honestly, how can there possibly be a manager - anywhere - who does not want any creativity in his midfield when even a 5 year old knows that midfield creativity is the key to any team's success?

The mental gymnastics that we sometimes do to justify and excuse our favourites (I am sure I have done it as well) would be a great topic for a psychology thesis.... :)

He didn't get any time under Poch due to a combination of fitness and injury. He didn't feature much in the beginning under Mourinho either, because Mourinho started the players he (thought he) knew. But eventually, he did play quite a lot under Mourinho, and he played well. Mason just played his mates. There were massive moaning about Mason's selections on this forum. There was no reason to drop Tanguy at that time, because he was probably the only spark in the side at that time.
Nuno just doesn't use playmakers, in the same way Klopp doesn't either. It's a similar style with just cloggers in midfield. Tiago rarely gets a sniff at anfield.

Again, are you serious? What is Moutinho if not a playmaker? What is Pedro Neto? Are these cloggers?

What Nuno doesn't use are primadonnas.... everyone - from centre forward to centre half - has to put in a shift and defend when we do not have the ball. He clearly does not tolerate slackers; irrespective how naturally talented or creative they may be. The team comes first.... a lesson Ndombele clearly still has to learn!!!

I have been, and still am a staunch advocate of Ndombele, however it is not Nuno's fault the player has not had his head in the game. When the player is able to maintain the requisite level of fitness and is ready to put his head down and focus there is no evidence to suggest he will not be selected. But he needs to prove himself to the manager, just as Dele is.

Absolutely agreed, mate. Dele went to a specialist fitness place to get himself fit before pre-season even started up - since the season's started, he's run the most in the entire team, and has earned his place back, not complaining once.
As I read here earlier, he even had an easy out to explain his poor form for the past couple of years in that git Mourinho, and still said the blame was only on him - no one else. That's what accountability looks like.

No one's responsible for Ndombele not playing but Ndombele himself. His choice what he wants to make of the rest of his career at this point, as a new father and with hopefully a bit of maturity gained from that. He can take charge, train well, fight hard, and make it impossible not to select him - or he can keep on like this, and no one will be in for him next summer, either...meaning he'll end up like Winston Bogarde, milking every bit of his 200k a week contract while sitting in the reserves.

We don't know how Ndombele has been training this summer do we? We just know that he wanted out, the club accepted that and tried to find him a new club. Perhaps he's been training poorly and thus not playing. Perhaps Nuno just didn't pick him while his future was that uncertain?
