Tanguy Ndombele

Can you explain why you don't think Tanguy Ndombele is ready to play?

" Like many players in our squad it is not easy to adapt to a new idea, a new philosophy, but we keep on insisting and believing that this is the right way and the right moment will come when we believe when it should be."

That is the biggest indictment I have seen on the player.... what it suggests to me is that he is not not only lazy physically (which we have long known) but also mentally....
It doesn't suggest anything close to what you say. You have taken a conclusion to fit with your own agenda.

Fairly damning considering he wasn’t involved in the Euros either so he’s been off since mid May.
I can’t see a future for him here tbh. Probably the best hope of finding a club to take him is through part-ex in a transfer deal (as someone already said earlier).

Exactly, he should be fully fit (whether physically or mentally) and raring to start our campaign having had a full summer at the Club. To have been at the club throughout and not make a minute of a pre-season friendly, think it means we'll be trying to offload. The issue is, long contract and wages, we would want to recoup and not likely that'll happen.

I would like, as much as anyone, to see him metamorphosize into a beast of player but facts are facts, no matter how much one can try to distort them. I am honestly astonished by the lengths some people will go to defend the guy.

Nuno could not be more clear... Ndombele had no Euros distraction, he is fully rested, has been part of pre-season since day 1 and is not carrying any injuries. Yet our coach (like the one before him) has not seen him justify playing even 5 minutes in any of our pre-season games, where we had to resort to the likes of Nile John in midfield. And the reason: he is unable to "adapt to a new idea, a new philosophy".

Happy to hear your alternative conclusion....

The alternative conclusion would be the literal reading of what Nuno said. It's difficult to adapt. Doesn't mean it won't happen. As is normal some players fit in quickly in a new system, usually because they have experience s with similar systems or the system fits their attributes with little need for adaptation. With others it's more difficult, takes more time.

Do we actually know for a fact what his preseason training has been like? We know he wasn't injured for the last game, but what else do we know?

Not distorting anything. Him having a cracking preseason would have been a much better look. Just witholding judgement.

Fine... we are entitled to our opinions. But it does look a bit like clutching straws from over here... Are you telling me that our record signing finds it more difficult to adapt to a new system than a greenhorn like Nile John, who played in his position throughout pre-season?

I would imagine that the best way to fit in quickly in a new system is to actually play games in that new system... ergo pre-season. That Nuno felt that Ndombele should not even be considered for those games despite being fit, suggests that the issue is attitude - which should not surprise us one bit...

Like I said. We don't know what the plan is, we don't know how preseason training has actually been for him.

You saying it suggests this is quite different from your wording in a couple of previous posts. I appreciate the change.

Adapting to a new system is more about the type of player you are than how good you are. Perhaps it is easier for Nile John, I don't know, because I don't know what the plan is, I don't know how Nuno wants Ndombele to adapt.

All I'm saying is give it some months, we'll know a lot more.

He has the quality to be a truly outstanding player, of that there can be absolutely no doubt. He showed just season that he can adjust and adapt, then to Mourinho and his style. However lazy you think he is he was hard working enough to be a regular starter for Mourinho - not one to take to lazy players.

I truly believe that if Nuno can get Ndombele firing it could have a transformative effect on our season. I don't know what the chances of that are, but there's a chance of that. For that possibly I will await and see what happens rather than conclude before Nuno has yet to lead us in a competitive game, before Ndombele has kicked a football in a match under Nuno.

I think both men deserve as much.

I doubt we have a choice.

Let's just hop he comes good.

Tanguy Ndombele has told Tottenham chiefs he wants to quit the club by the end of the window. The Spurs record signing’s future is up in the air going into the final fortnight after he was frozen out of Nuno Espirito’s side.

Would say he can jog on, but I imagine even a jog is to much effort.

Problem is finding someone to match his £200k pw wages and pay us a reasonable fee. Would anyone even pay £30m, particularly given the wages?

I don't believe he's on £200k a week. Other sources put his wages at £120k a week which sounds more realistic. Maybe with some bonuses on top. £200k would have meant he was joint top earner with kane and on more than son.

Perhaps, the 200k figure has been pretty consistently reported on.

Bigger issue is how many clubs out there will fork out the minimum £50m I would expect us to want for him?

Just finding a loan where some of his wages are covered could be difficult.
