Tanguy Ndombele

If you forget about his flash step overs how much does he actually CONSISTENTLY produce?

For me, not very much... He still doesnt seem able to play 90 minutes and I think he's only really concerned about himself. I also really dislike the way he goes down bleating, pretending he's been seriously hurt three times a game- the sort of behaviour that would cause a fight in sunday morning football..

I love some of his tricks and skills but he is not the player for us at this time...

Hojbjerg does this exact same thing, more times in a game than Ndombele does IMO.

I think Ndmobele is probably genuinely our most fouled player. I do think he has to toughen up a bit to show that he can't be kicked out of the game (as at present I think he can) but he certainly gets quite bit of treatment off of the opposition.

I seem to have said this a hundred times so far about a majority of our players.... I think he would look a lot better in a front foot attacking team than the scared, defensive, negative Jose Mourinho Spurs team. Ndombele has incredible skill and vision and if we did most of our work in the opposition's half instead of our own then he would be a huge asset. It's not really about whether he plays as an 8 or a 10... more about where we as a team play most of our football. At present we have a bunch of very good attacking players trying to play defensive football.

Glad to see you continuing the fight across multiple threads. You know where I've stood on all this for some time. I am sorry to say I -along with many others- was not wrong.

That is about as succinct a statement, to describe this season, as anyone is going to read anywhere. How are we in a situation, where Bale and Dele aren't playing and scoring the extraordinary goals which only they can? The manager and "to dare is to do" are chalk and cheese....

Poor performance, continuation of a poor run. But still has immense ability.

Main problem, similar with PEH, is that we haven't had replacements able to step in when their form has been poor. Hopefully next season GLC and SKipp can do that

So lets see what the new manager can get out of him. His ability on the ball is superb

He has too much ability for me to say sell him. But I’m beginning to wonder if he is a highlights reel player. I can’t think of many/any games he has dominated, even in most good games he has shown flashes of brilliance more than anything else. I’d also say I prefer him higher up the pitch rather than CM.

But let’s see what the next manager does with him....

Agreed, starting to feel frustrated / disappointed that he might not take his game to the next level. Is it just a work rate / urgency thing? He can turn it on out of nowhere, but just seems to play so much of the match in 1st gear. Would be very interested to see the stats on how much ground he covers compared to other central midfielders.

Excellent technical ability, could be one of the top players in the world, not so sure he has the drive or work rate to ever reach that level.
Shouldn't be played in CM, doesn't do enough there defensively and should be doing his tricks higher up the pitch
I'd love to see what he can do in a team that has a proper attacking plan/philosophy/structure. The Special Gone is well known for not having one of those and Mason has had them for two days and has managed exactly one senior match. Let's see what happens with a new manager and players making runs he can have as choices to make.

Thoughts?
I thought he had another very poor game today. If he would just keep things simple, our midfield and attacking play would be much more efficient, and better. The only time he played a good pass forward, it led to Bale's equaliser. But he should be giving us much more in attack to compensate for his so-so contribution to our defense.

He wants to beat a man and release a ball forward, but the movement around him is woeful.
We've yet to see the best of him.
That is kind of the problem though, whenever he receives the ball he wants to beat a man. But to do that he slows down our play massively, he receives it, stops, tries his trick and a lot of the time doesn’t really go anywhere and ends up playing a sidewards pass. Part of the reason why I’d prefer he was playing higher up the pitch where he could just do his trick and get his shot away, he’s actually proven he has a good long range shot on him.....
