Tanguy Ndombele

Your buying talent and ability
Premier league eleven is different to France by some way but I saw him boss CL games against city and shine vs Barca do he is no mug
He is already fit enough to play in this league but the managers seem to not want him to get 90 in
That’s the key

No I agree and I like him. But “will take two years to get fit” is very strange in a fitness report. One would have thought it would have been the kiss of death to the transfer prospects.

You would think at least once we could leave him on and see what happens (not like he is gonna grind to a complete halt and die of exhaustion!). He might just be fine, and even if he struggles a bit then that feeling of finishing the full 90 might just be some motivation or realisation of where he needs to be at.

Maybe Mourinho just realises the importance of N'Dombele to our offensive, creative play, and is trying to make sure he's not run down, because that would leave us fudged. Only it backfired.

His handling of Kane suggests this isn't the case, of course.

Usually the problem with this kind of player is not that their offensive contribution drops when they're getting tired, it is their defensive effort that suffers. You _could_ leave him on, but the already tired remaining midfield would then have to carry him more and more as the game progresses and he is not performing his defensive duties as well as before.

This is not uncommon. Moutinho on Wolves also gets regularly yanked off at the 60 or 70 minutes mark. Our main problem is that the replacement we brought on may be a good defensive replacement, he offered very little creativity. I would much rather have seen in-form Dele Alli, a Christian Eriksen, a prime VdV, or perhaps the good lord himself. Problem was, neither of them were available...

I think kane is case where we wear him down instead of pointless international matches.

The Poch quote was as much about the players age and coming from a different league. Ndombele only had a couple of seasons in the French league so still lots of room for development.

“Still for me, when you sign a player, despite the amount you pay, with the profile of Tanguy Ndombele or Giovani Lo Celso or Ryan Sessegnon you need minimum one year and a half, or two years.

Look at what happened with Son or Sissoko, they started to perform in year two, year three. That is why when you are so young, today the market is the market, you cannot judge the player because you paid some kind of amount.”

That is a good summing up but we know that there are fans who "want it and want it now" of course you also have to accept bedding in of players is/ can be much harder when they come in from abroad. Sadly that is not always the case for some fans.

The majority of transfers are on the never never there's nothing special about the Pepe deal, Arsenal are just spinning the story to make it see. Ore dramatic than it is.

I dunno, when players in that price bracket flop it's certainly out of the ordinary/special i would say.

Especially in this case where he was a player that no one had at that level? Strange goings on all round there imo

Edit : rereading it it seems like you're actually refering to the fact they are paying in installments - in which case ignore the above :D and yeah that's pretty commonplace these days i thought? No one has that sort of cash to throw around and it does neither clubs accounts any good to actually have it paid upfront, i believe?

It’s very rare to pay up front for sure
Pepe was odd as his record for goals scored was half achieved via penalties give or take. His actual scoring record was in oar with Gervinho who they also got from Lille
Their chairman did a big spin thing claiming Barca were looking at him too to bump the price up

Was he signed under Edu or the previous regime?

Previous regime
Edu has impressed me to be fair

Too early to tell but I'm not sure the good has outweighed the bad - Arsenal fans on a mixed board i read don't seem to rate his input but i don't know enough to say either way.

Has a big job on his hands to turn the squad around.

His input form what I’ve seen has been bringing in the cheaper signings or Brazilians like Mari, Gabriel and Martinelli
I’m not sure about signing Willian TBH as that was odd... and easily could have been him
He seems to have an eye for you get players or contacts at least and considering their finances that could be handy
