Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

Even if we had Modric and Adebayor, I'd still gladly take a point away to Saudi Sportswashing Machine in the first game of the season. I still think that is the most likely result.

I remember when we lost away to QPR last season, before the match I thought a win for us was the most likely result

Soldado from Valencia turned us down ? Seems we're trying everywhere but no luck...

Luck has nothing to do with it. We need to be more flexible in our negotiations IMO. Lots of clubs are being reported to have rejected our offers for this player or that player and even the vertonghen transfer took over a month to complete. Sometimes being a shrewd negotiator doesn't seem to work in our favour...

The responsibility to be flexible is no more Spurs' than it is any of the other clubs' that we're negotiating with for incoming or outgoing transfers.

Seems to me that many people don't realise just how complex such negotiations can be.

Clearly talking about AVB is what the papers will report.

Spain striker Roberto Soldado has confirmed Tottenham have had a bid rejected for him by Valencia.

The 27-year-old has spent the past two seasons at the Mestalla scoring 36 goals in 67 apperances for Mauricio Pellegrino's side.

Soldado admitted he heard of Spurs interest in bringing him to White Hart Lane but revealed Los Che didn't want to let him leave the club after they received an offer.

He told reporters: "I knew their interest on me; my representatives told me they made an offer to the club, but despite the economic situation, they didn't want to sell me."

The Spaniard, who has scored three goals in five appearances for the national side, is fully committed to Valencia and still feels it's a 'dream' to play for them.

"I signed until 2017 I'm ready to complete my contract; that's my dream and I hope it comes true. I want to play here, in my land's team."

Soldado is expected to be part of Pellegrino's squad to take on Champions Real Madrid on Sunday in their La Liga opener.
