The dire striker situation makes me think that something big is afoot. otherwise there must be something seriously wrong with Levy.

Or that Levy has done his 'all his Ade shaped eggs in one basket' tunnel vision thing. We'll sign Ade and then run out of time to do much else.

M'Vila is nothing like Parker though. Them two in the middle would be like Gilberto Silva and Vieira and we know how much that worked at Arsenal..

It worked even better with Petit, who was more of a retainer/passer though.

I think I just want us to be a cultured team that keeps possession, rather than a 100 mph typical brainless EPL side. With Modric and Carrick before him, I've got use to us playing that way.

"The window will remain open until 23:00 BST on 31 August 2012"

Good as I'm off to Munich at 6am that day, I can hopefully ignore all the proceedings in a drunken haze.

Or a huge phone bill incurred from roaming charges from refreshing the different football websites every 5 minutes that day ;)

I was sure something would be announced after the weekend, now I am starting to worry.....

Ade before deadline day, we nearly signed Damiao and Llorente....

but only Robben and Cole can dribble in that Chleski team which is pretty much like for like with our team (Lennon and Bale).

Well...for one thing they also had Duff and SWP who could come on if they needed extra dribbling ability whereas we have pretty much fudge all unless you count Townsend or GDS.

Secondly:

I was definitely of the opinion that Levy would have signed at least one striker by now. Now I'm starting to worry. Surely we can't go into the season with just Defoe as a senior striker?

Was he in Burger King? SSN have him down as free agent btw.

No he was in his Ipswich Tracksuit along with the rest of the Squad. They were Flying to Holland i think for a pre-season game.

Edit: Just read that he was released from his contract today. So all makes sense :)

Better not be going to Arsenal or they have been far more impressive than us in their transfer dealings. Arsenal have already been more impressive but that potential signing would make the gulf so vast that Levy would be forced to head out and sign Llorente, Messi & Ronaldo in one big La Liga triple swoop!

At M'Vila's age no one was shouting home about Vieira either..

M'Vila is 22. Vieira at 22 was a Premiership winner, an FA Cup winner (both in the same season) and a World Cup winner. And people were raving about him in his first season at Arsenal (he was 20 btw). This isn't a put down to M'Vila (I've never paid attention to him and don't know anything about him to say he is over, under or perfectly rated) but to suggest that no one was shouting home about Vieira at 22 is simply wrong.

How do you think we played last season?

not sure levy is that bothered tbh. he jjust needs us to be current and relevant. which we are so he is happy

In AVB i feel he has more of a Yes man than he did with harry. Levy is living the entry level of his dream right now. very soon a DoF will rear the head and we'll be looking for cheaper ways to cultivate talent.

but for me in Levy i TRust

If Ade wasn't sorted we would have heard a lot more in the press about him trying for a move elsewhere - if i was an itk id be putting my reputation on the line for that one

What gives you the impression AVB is a yes man? If anything the way he went about things at Chelsea would suggest he is anything but

Can see a DoF of sorts coming in though - you appear to be knocking Levy for this ? With the new stadium on the horizon we are most likely going to have to maximize our outlay in transfers (meaning young players with potential) and if a DoF helps in that area then it will definitley be getting my backing
