yeah, keeping in mind that Gilberto (the one we had briefly) earned plenty of caps for Brazil playing in defense - it's no real badge of honor !

He has a bit of quality, good awareness, finds good positions, is strong and has shown he can get goals in a struggling team.

He wouldnt be a wet your pants exciting buy, but as a replacemetn to someone like Saha/development of the striker pool I think he would be a solid buy.

12 goals and 2 assists in 26 premierships starts this season.

Respected dutch football magazine Voetbal International says that Ajax want 15 million Euro for Vertonghen, but Spurs are only willing to pay 12 million. Negotiations will continue this week.

Indeed, Vertonghen and Remy in early would be amazing business. Just amazing. I think we have to realise that these two could be joining bigger teams.

It is nice to see we're trying to do business early. Settle them in nicely. Thats the way to do it.

It is also two positions we need to improve on.

Hopefully we can get our transfers in early but I'm wary of the fact that even if Chavski lose to Bayern we still then have to qualify for the Champions League group stage and the play-offs aren't until the last week of August. So there may be some players who will not sign on the dotted line until we are definitely through, plus the fact that Levy can't be sure of the ?ú30million CL windfall until then which might affect how much of a transfer kitty Harry gets :-k
