plus he's all about attacking rather than defending

bale would have to work twice as hard on the defensive end or we'd get slaughtered.....AND you'll see bale play infield ALOT more if baines is to be of any use to us , or at least to the use / value that he's made of himself in everton

Juventus though have some good taste. only after the best...RV-Pee , now BA-Eee
 
People underestimate Ekotto's defensive qualities when they go and then talk about Baines. Ekotto is a better defender then Ekotto.

Disagree. Ekotto is a better footballer than he is a defender. In fact - I think his defensive capabilties is one of his weakest aspects
 
Those quotes are rehashed from an earlier interview and spun to look a lot worse than when you read them in context.

Ekotto is a better defender then Baines sorry.

He's quicker, stronger, better on the ball, positioning wise they are about the same, Ekotto is still only one of two full backs I've seen contain Ronaldo for 90 minutes, nothing to do with Baines but I like throwing that out there. Ekotto is a better dribbler with the ball and is certainly more intelligent.

Baines takes better free kicks and penalties though.

and he's a flavour of the month so we must sign him!

Baines is no upgrade on Ekotto, he's a good player but no better, he's also a slightly different style of player, which as African says could impact on Bale, he'd definitely be doing more defending for us if Baines was signed.
 
Falvour of the month?

The only reason Baines plays a more attacking role is due to the fact he's their only natural wide left player

Obviously with us he'd be utilised in a slightly different formation and tone it down a bit

Figueroa for me is a better replacement. A very decent defender and also decent on the ball. Behind Bale he would fit in very well, and is the closest 'like for like' for Ekotto I can think of in the premiership.

Added bonus of being VERY good in the air and also able to cover CB as well.
