Summer 2018 transfer thread

I imagine that if Bale came back, he and Kane would be vying for top dog, each trying to outdo one another with outrageous skill and goals.
They may Spur each other on to new heights.
They may be greedy.
Bale may become great mates with Kane and whisk him off to stay in some of Madrid's finest locations and tell him how great it is to live in Spain, to prove yourself at the biggest team in the world, talking until Harry decides he too wants to try his luck at Real Madrid.
Or maybe the only way we get Bale at a discounted price and with Real subsidizing his salary is if we promise to sell them Kane in 3-4 years. That's the only way I can see this move happening. @BrainOfLevy would get his wet dream, too. :p

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United in Toby Alderweireld transfer talks with Tottenham — but face paying Virgil van Dijk money
A contract clause lets the defender to go for just £25m NEXT summer, so Spurs are trying to get three times as much now

Spurs have opened negotiations with Manchester United for £75million-rated Toby Alderweireld.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is known to have targeted the Belgium international defender as part of the defensive revamp he is planning at Old Trafford this summer.

Alderweireld is set to out of contract in 2020 and has failed to reach agreement with Tottenham over a new deal.

Next summer, he would able to leave for just £25m because of a clause in his contract — so Spurs are willing to listen to offers for him in this window when he'd command a far higher price.

It was initially believed the Londoners would accept around £55m for Alderweireld, but chairman Daniel Levy is believed to be seeking closer to the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for fellow centre-back Virgil van Dijk in January.

Now 29, he moved to White Hart Lane from Atletico Madrid in July 2015 for £11.5m, after an impressive season on loan at Southampton.

With him starring at the back, Tottenham had the best defensive record in the Premier League in each of the next two seasons.

While injuries affected his most recent campaign, Spurs still believe they are within their rights to argue he is widely regarded as the best defender in the Premier League.

Alderweireld is one of a number of players set to leave Tottenham this summer. Fellow Belgian Mousa Dembele, who turns 31 in July, is also set to depart.

The midfielder’s agent, Tom De Mul, has confirmed he is currently entertaining offers with just a year left on his contract.

“Mousa has another one year contract with Tottenham. He has played a fantastic season and there is a lot going on around him.

“There is a lot of interest inside and outside of Europe, we are waiting for the World Cup and I hope he plays in Russia, because he deserves that after such a peak season.”

Tottenham eyeing West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi - sources

Tottenham have joined the list of clubs tracking West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi, sources have told ESPN FC.

West Brom face a battle to keep hold of Hegazi this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.
Reports have suggested that Hegazi has a £2.5 million release clause in his contract, but those reports are wide of the mark.

Hegazi, who is set to feature for Egypt at next month's World Cup finals, was one of West Brom's shining lights this season despite their relegation, establishing himself as one of the league's best out-and-out defenders.

Hegazi joined West Brom from Al Ahly originally on loan in the summer of 2017, before making the move permanent five months later.

The towering central defender started all 38 Premier League games for West Brom and his impressive performances have brought him to the attention of a number of clubs.

Tottenham are planning to bolster their defensive options as doubts surround the future of Toby Alderweireld, and Hegazi has emerged on their list of possible replacements for the Belgium international.

West Ham United and Leicester City are also keeping tabs on Hegazi as they look to improve their squads for next season, with West Brom bracing themselves for offers in the defender during this month's transfer window.
