Steffen Freund new International Technical Coordinator

coaching_team730.jpg

whos the tinkled off one on the left? and the smug one on the right?

also, what was Steffen's song from his playing days/will it be sung again when he comes back to WHL?

Watched the interview a couple of times now. Clearly oozes love for the club.

Sense him saying that improving our position in the table is AVB and Levy's job and he's here because he knows the club, suggests he's been brought in as he's a Spurs man foremost.

Not that u doubt his coaching qualities at all.

Makes me think Levy chose him or insisted to AVB he has a club man as his right-hand man.

He seemed very enthused by the possibility of coaching/developing the younger players on our books which is great. The new training centre is really gonna spur us on in the future.

What a fab interview and he is so believable. Makes sense doesn't it? We are looking at youth development and I'm not surprised Levi has focused on this. Players like Bostock getting lost through the cracks when they should not be.

It really is exciting times!

What's interesting is that I am not sure prior to being offered the role that he has ever met AVB before. Certainly doesn't seem to know him that well. I'd have thought that AVB would have wanted a close ally.

Or Sherwood maybe. What is interesting is that in that NOTW article years ago Sherwood slated Freund for not being as good as he was and having no right to keep him out of the team. And yet only recently, prior to Freund joining us (and I think AVB too), he was talking him up as being a good mate and a great professional and play. So either Sherwood knew Levy wanted him back and changed tact, or maybe he is the one who made up with Freund and kept in touch all these years.

Regardless, absolutely delighted to see Freund at the club. At least with him and Parks there we have some coaching staff with a strong affinity for the club.

AVB already has three other Portuguese coaches that he has brought with him. Allies enough, I'd have thought.

But, without wishing to state the bleedin' obvious, you'd hope that, Portuguese or not, they're all singing from the same hymn sheet. Certainly, what we know of Steffen Freund, he is the quintessential team player.

Makes you think that it's definitely DL or sherwoods concept .... By the way I'm diggin his spurs heritage and attachment to our club. ... He's one of us

Fantastic interview, I love the bloke, the club feel re-energised to me, Im very excited about what could happen this year

Agreed! I was impressed with how enthusiastic he was in the interview. There was no I-have-to-act-cool-I'm-a-profootballer about him. He sounded like fan, talking about how delighted he was to be back. The perfect person to help AVB & Levy convince some young German player that Spurs is the place to further his career.
