Stadium Thread

I'm thinking those retractable seats will be the only ones worth sitting in. That picture isn't even taken from the back of the stand.

Imagine how bad the view is going to be in the boxes. This has got to have an impact on how much they can charge for corporate hospitality.

Ok then so it's hard to predict as no one knows how good they will, but let's say they'll be at a similar standard to what they are now, how many fans do we reckon will turn up every week once the whole new stadium factor wears off?

Do they even get that money?
The stadium doesn't have a whole lot going for it really except location/transport links. The match viewing experience won't be good and ultimately that is what generates atmosphere and bums on seats, not the train journey. Maybe the move will work out for them but it could go badly wrong just as easily. So bad their attendances could drop from where they are now and keep dropping. Personally I think this is a big mistake for them as a football club but at least someone is getting rich out of it ;)

City are having an open training tomorrow:

One day to go... be part of Etihad Stadium history!

Your attendance at this test event is key to the Club receiving the safety certificate to open all of the South Stand, and ensuring that all supporters will be able to sit in their own seats for the first home game of the season against Chelsea on Sunday, 16 August.

At the test event both Men's and Women's first teams are set to grace the turf of our newly developed home on 12 August for an open training session, and you won't want to miss out on this historic occasion.

The training session, which doubles as the new stadium’s official test event, is an unmissable evening of fun for the entire family.

Newly-released plans have revealed that Chelsea will be able to more than double their offering of corporate tickets at a revamped Stamford Bridge, while away fans will see their allocation cut.

The Barclays Premier League champions hope to start work towards a 60,000-seat Stamford Bridge within nine months and strategic planners AECOM submitted more details of their plans to the local council as their next step forward following a consultation with fans and residents.

The 120-page scoping report includes notes on everything from how they plan to allocate seats at their revamped home, to consideration of solutions for newts and other local wildlife that could be living in the area during the four years of work that will be required.

The red markings on this document show the area of the site that would be affected by the expansion

6,000 more hospitality
6,000 new Club Area (Bronze) (whatever that is)
4,000 more general admission
1,500 more Juniors
715 more season tickets
426 more Others (* includes players, directors, officials, disabled and media)
431 fewer Away supporters (cut from today's 3,000 to 2,569)

The welfare of the great crested newt is mentioned in the plans before being dismissed as a consideration

Emirates Marketing Project's upgraded stadium is open for the 1st time this weekend, now upto 55k, so even more empty blue seats for every home game than usual

I quite like it to be honest. But it's definitely not for everyone and is going to split opinion for sure.

But yeah, I think it looks quite good.
