Squad

I'd love another cb in jan. As does ange. Romero is more than likely to get injured or banned at some point.

Just think that we are not in bad shape squad wise at the moment.

Work to do though. We don't need 5gks for a start. A cb would be nice. Hopefully scarlet, devine, veliz or phillips step up so can be good squad members next season. Santiago, donnington, donnely and lankshear get good loans. Then just add a bit of class where needed.

Yep, but Ange also knows/said the work was never going to be done in one window

I really like the mix now, Solomon/Perisic, Son/Richi, Deki/Johnson, Royal/Porro, Sarr/Bentancur, not only good player, but different options

Next priority will be getting another CB, a LB and depending on how GLC does, cover for Maddison

We now have a new jan in Micky
And we also have a new Aaron Lennon on the wing in Soloman
Who else could we reincarnate to make the team better

Pick a LB (not Bale) to rotate with Udogie
Maybe he might get a tune out of sessegnon if he lets him play his game. But destiny is already the best in the country
I do think Lloyd Kelly will join and that also means Van Der Ven could be left back cover

Don't mean to rathole but Sess couldn't run around the fudging block without getting injured ..

I think more likely just Kelly covering LB and LCB (and keep VDV where he is best). Kelly would be a very smart signing because of that versatility, as well as his playing style.

Would like to see how Phillips and Veliz take their chances when they come. Wish them all the best, but have no idea how they play.

So a question

- Current media perception seems very positive re Ange and general Spurs direction
- However the caveat being mentioned is our team isn't good enough to really challenge even for top 4
- Even read the obvious clickbait of "no Spurs player would get in Arsenal's squad"

How do people feel the first 11 & squad compares with other top 6/8 teams?

Personally I think Romero, Maddison, Bentancur, Bissouma & Son probably find a spot on most top 6 teams with Vicario, Udogie, VDV, Deki promising (could become) or just decent bench options. City obviously has filthy depth but outside of them, quite a few of our players are similar quality

On paper I don't see much to choose from between most of the top 6 or whatever it is these days (City aside) it usually just comes down to form anyway.

Who are the top 6 now anyway? United are firmly a mid-table side, and the chaos of Chelsea is tipping them that way. Whereas Brighton are now acting and performing like a big boy

I think our first team is comparable to most of the top 8, and can hold it own somewhat with any of those bar maybe City.

However, our squad depth isn't a patch on many of the top 6 imo: one injury to VDV or Romero and it's squeaky-bum time.
If we were in Europe we'd be on tentahooks even more than we are now.
Ange does seem to want to spread our goal threats so that will, hopefully, stand us in good stead.

the next two fixtures will give us a better indication of where we are in the scheme of things.

Liverpool (got some great signings this window). Arsenal and city have better squads.

Utd on paper should have. (Played on grass though).

Other than that? Dunno.

.

Your squad doesn't need to be better than those in the percieved top 4 IMO, has to be better and consistent consistent enough to pick up points up off the teams it should be beating. That's the key for me.

On that basis I think we have our house in order along with the quality needed, more so than 2/3 teams that being City, Arsenal and Liverpool.
