Son Heung-Min

I think this feels like the right decision at the right time for Son. At 33 his powers are naturally beginning to fade—he's no longer the explosive force he once was—but he still leaves as one of the greatest to ever wear the Spurs shirt.

His final official match saw him lift the Europa League trophy—our first European triumph in 41 years - and our first piece of silverware in 17. What a way to go out. Son leaves as a truly beloved Tottenham legend—definitely more loved than Harry Kane, who left for Bayern in search of trophies. Son stayed. He believed he could win something with us—and he did.

What matters most is that this decision was his. The club didn’t push him out. He had the option to stay one more season and leave on a free. Instead, he has chosen to go now with dignity and legacy intact. The choice was entirely his.

My only regret is that we didn’t know at the end of the season that he’d be leaving. Had we known, we would have given him the sensational send-off he deserved at Tottenham at our last home game of the season.

So today, watching Sonny lead Spurs out for the last time in a friendly against Saudi Sportswashing Machine I thought If it can’t be at our ground, maybe it was fitting that his final appearance in a Spurs shirt was in Seoul—his home, in front of his people. It was a beautiful farewell for a beautiful player.

I wonder if the Madison injury might have a bearing in his thinking now. If madders is out for four or five months he may think it best he stays til Christmas.

Unlikely I know but it's going to cross his mind I am sure.
 
Amazing memories, streaky player but often stepped up in big games especially against City. Big big personality as well, doubt anyone has a bad word for him - leaves as a total legend and can't wait to welcome him back some day.

Sensible all round as well, a new era with Frank and although he's still more than capable he's definitely past his best and a few years in LA will be a great end to a career.

Nice he got to finally win a trophy with us as his last competitive game.
 
You know one of the things I find hardest. My mum has Alzheimer’s, she has always thought Son was great due to his humble character and how he always tried so hard and made many great moments for us. Mum would always ask how Sonny was getting on, even through her early Alzheimers to now.

And now he has left. It’s hard to think that those conversations, those moments are gone when I talk with mum. And that’s the impact that Son has had not just on us Spurs supporters but on those who saw Son play, who were taken in by his character. He has been not just a Tottenham legend but one to many outside of the club or footballing supporting World too.

So this end of an era is a sad time even if we wish him well for LAFC but it won’t be the same. It’s a sad moment that transcends Tottenham and will affect Premier League supporters for other clubs and those who just have a passing interest in the game.

Thank you Son for being a great shining light for us and for football.
