Son Heung-Min

By a long mile, our biggest and truest Premier League legend.... stayed on while others - Kane included - jumped ship. Gave his all and did it with humility and a smile.

A statue is the least we can do to show him our love and appreciation....
Kane hasn't put out a single word yet about Son. That's telling, and pretty shocking if you ask me! And that is why, in my view, Kane doesn't even reach the ankles of Son in terms of being a true club legend. Kane was a great player for us, but Son is more than that!

Oh Ghod. Just when I thought the tears were over…..I’m in absolute pieces yet again.

I’ve seen many of what I would consider legends - whom I have loved - depart over the years.. But I don’t think I have ever felt the connection with any other player compared to how I feel about Sonny. Sure, the social media age plays a part But his love for Spurs feels so genuine, as does our love for him. He stuck with us when he could have gone elsewhere. He delivered a great prize to us. He loves us. And we love him.
Best of luck Sonny. And please come back soon to see us so we can give you a proper farewell.
❤️
You said it so well, so I won't bother writing anything. Besides, I can barely see the letters on the keyboard. Must have gotten something in my eyes.

I had a little search of Kanes socials and I can’t see anything either. Strange one that

Or he may have just shared his thoughts privately with Son directly.

Social media is performative nonsense imo, I’m not going to judge anyone for what they don’t say on it.

Massively disagree about Kane being nowhere near Son in terms of being a club legend. And as for his interaction with Son, they are very good friends.

The social media part really is irrelevant for footballers, that is for fans and not the priority for actual friends. I know it's easy to forget in this day and age, but maybe just maybe Kane has spoken to Son on the phone.....

This!

Yeah I’ve seen lots of people coming for Kane. Like he is some sort of traitor for leaving in search of trophies.

He’s our top goalscorer in history. If anyone deserved to go off in search of some team glory, it was Harry Kane. It neither adds to nor detracts from what Son did. They are both absolute legends of the club. No social media post could ever change that (except maybe him declaring his love for Arsenal)

I think it's totally fair to say that nobody should begrudge Kane for leaving Spurs, even a couple of years before he actually did.

Kane is not Son for me though. He doesn't have that natural authenticity, charisma and amazing body language that resonates with fans across the world. I genuinely think that Kane the footballer was designed for world fame. Kane the person wasn't. He was so unnatural in front of cameras and didn't have the natural charm of other players. He never had the right words or the ability to make people smile. That is a huge difference.

I also think a lot of fans didn't appreciate all the nonsense with Kane and his brother Charlie and the way he tried to engineer his move away. We didn't appreciate him staying back in Miami for an extra week and not showing the commitment to get back to pre-season with us. Most top players use super agents and they take care of business. Harry chose his amateur brother to keep the money in the family and Levy just ate him up for breakfast. It was quite funny watching it play out actually. It definitely stained the relationship with some of us fans even though we didn't begrudge Harry leaving at all. You just need to operate with class in life.

I would say the younger "all in" Kane was the better player of the 2 though. The pairing was as good as it gets.

Kane was the better player. It’s Kirk debatable
But Kane has been in the top 2 strikers on the owner since he was about 22 …
Sonny grew and has a period where he was world class too
We were lucky to have both here

Apart from this site and my grandkids Facebook crap I don't entertain social media, why would anyone want to interact with family or close friends on the internet where the great unwashed of the world can see? Got to go now have to text my missus and see if she wants toast with her coffee.

It's a tough comparison.

I guess Kane's peer group was guys like Lewanowski, Benzema and Cavani and he was always compared to Shearer.

Sonny's were more the wider players like Salah, Mane, Mbappe, Neymar etc.

Messi and Ronaldo stand alone above all these players.

It's mad to think we had 2 of these great players for so long.

I was on the point of giving it up. Then I joined a band a couple of years back. GG is my social media for football. Facebook is my social media for music. LinkedIn is a great platform for certain white collar industries in the workplace. The rest is mostly irrelevant, at least to me but some would build a case of Instagram as doing all of the above.

It's funny, had Kane stayed we'd have likely finished top 4 in Ange's first season - which would mean no Europa League trophy last season

It's only a few years ago we had a front line of Kane, Son and Bale.

Not quite the same with what we have currently, although some of them might become stars. But atm, we really lack a star player.

I think in this day and age, when you mention two names, it's a zero sum game. If you praise one, you have to criticise the other to further justify your opinion. The more extreme your opinions, the more "right" your opinion is.

Kane is an absolute legend who I love dearly as a player, as a pro and what he did for our club. He gave us his best years. Yeah he left but I didn't blame him at the time and I don't blame him now. As much as I love Kane, I feel more upset about Sonny and I feel more affinity towards Sonny because he stayed here until he was successful and gave us pretty much his entire career. My love for Sonny is no reflection on Kane or how I feel about him.

They both gave me immeasurable joy and I'll always be grateful for that.

Superb articulation.
