For me there is a much bigger agenda at play here and perhaps the trans community are the first cross section of people to feel the slight change in direction.
The agenda is to do with "positive bias". We know our history came with inequality and inequity but you do not solve it by implementing more of the same but the other way round. If you artificially give these groups the priority then the pendulum swings too far the other way and eventually you're going to get massive push back.
You can pick many examples of where positive bias is in play in our lives. Obviously recruitment in the workplace is one place where it is very prevalent. I'm sure most of us have seen the best candidate get overlooked for a role, seen the HR box get ticked and then see the disenfranchisement of other company employees.
Rightly or wrongly, I actually think you're going to see many more examples of push back on positive bias in this world in the next phase.
