So, what happened today?

Today is my first day of (early) retirement.
Not sure it’s totally hit me yet. But it’s a bloody great feeling knowing I don’t have to go to work!

And what did you do with your first day of freedom?

I’m both keen to break out of working and afraid to do so!

Had a reunion with 5 old school mates, one I hadn't seen for over 60 odd years and he lives about 2 miles from me, it was great and sad, all grey haired, hard of hearing and 2 of us had walking sticks. The only thing missing was an old bath tub and it could have been an episode of "Last of Summer Wine"

Hahaha that;s awesome

congrats. I remember you upgraded your tv and lounge set up - now it becomes clear why!

Erm I think that may have been someone else. We did get a couple of flatscreen TVs a few years ago, which was indeed an upgrade on what we had before, :) - but I don't believe that is what you were thinking of!

Another scientist that’s been ideologically captured. What exactly is he so afraid of by saying men are stronger/faster etc than women? Is it a backlash on social media?

I note in that clip Neil was wholly interrupted and did not get to make his point.

He is a theoretical physicist and capable of much deeper thought than even Piers Morgan and it is odd they the poster and yourself don’t give pause for thought.

I’ve seen him interviewed elsewhere where he was asked questions on the same subject and he said the same thing.

Well post those next time.

I don’t agree with him on the wider thinking. In my view Nature intends there to be two distinct sexes in mammals and physiological fluidity is an expression of biological imperfection.

But we need to be extremely precise when working out where deep thinkers are at odds with our own views/opinions as we are all of us slaves to our own misunderstandings.

I mentioned my Dad was in a nursing home and not eating. Well he did pass away about a week ago. He had it rough for a long while but passed very suddenly, quietly and peacefully - so we are delighted that was so as he had wanted a relief from his agonies and anguish for a long while. The nursing home ( not a hospice) were really good.

I wrote to the local MP before the recent vote asking her if she wanted to see what unassisted dying looked like. She said no thanks and then voted against it because she feels there are some vulnerable people who will be coerced into an early death and doesn’t believe the bill offers adequate safeguards.

Despite these valid concerns it seems we are to go ahead with some form of assisted dying - and I think it is a step forward.
