Any consideration that the characteristics that make people consider women to be sub-human are the same ones that would lead a country to be poor? I think you've got your chicken and egg the wrong way around.

I didn't say that. It's a reach. Pathetic. So what makes rich Republicans hate women and make them birth babies even though they've been raped and are under age? Why do Saudis pay women as well as the superior US culture?

There would be some pretty heavy lifting of some US states to be that green. As with Australia, plenty of domestic abuse and *struggle cuddle* in the fly in fly out mining towns......

Data always has context. Scara either gets it and is insincere or he is dim. I assume it's the former.

So it's not poverty making people treat women poorly then? After all - that's two wealthy countries treating women like brick.

It's almost as if there's a thing common to all of these places that causes it, but I just can't put my finger on it........

So now we have moved from culture back to religion. So my initial response to Marky who went to Albania/Africa/Asia is correct. Good.

Poverty tends to reveal misogyny in a way that folks like your good self can easily process. I understand that you find it hard to gauge draconian mysogynistic attitudes towards women from people other than those who fit the easy agenda, but I think you'll find that it is alive and kicking behind the more comfortably-appointed doors of those with some cash. I'd also suggest you take a look at some of the great 'successful' western figures, you know, the Epsteins, the Weinstein's, the Trumps, the Popes (ah, sorry, we'd agree on that one)...I'd say many women's lives have been abused and ruined by those fine upstanding citizens.

Nothing is black and white when it comes to these subjects, and attempts to paint it as such only reveal other fears and prejudices.

You don't think religion makes up a large part of culture?

In many countries, I'd say it's the overriding factor.

What if the traits that cause that misogyny - religion, etc - are what holds countries back from developing and taking people out of poverty?

Maybe poverty isn't the cause and it's just another symptom.
