It is very close to me, I live in Bramber just 3 miles from the crash site.
I am so saddened to hear of the lose to human life, really tragic. A good friend of my wife volunteers in the RAFA tent making lunches for all the old veterans. As the whole site was shut down on the saturday after the crash and no vehicles were allowed to leave people had to leave by foot and public transport.
Of course this was not feasible for the old veterans some who were in the 90's so they stayed there waiting patiently as people of that generation do. But as time got on some of them were needing their medication from their care homes which were dotted about all over sussex.
The police tried to help but resources were understandably stretched. That is when some of the spectators who lived locally and had left their cars at home drove to different areas of sussex to retrieve the medication for the veterans.
A truly sad day and time but a lovely side story that when I heard this morning made me feel a little better about it all.
On a side not I am refusing to have anything to do with the daily mail newspaper after its online edition showed pictures of people sat in a car just about to be engulfed in flames. I understand the need to report on news but what happened to us as a people that we think it is acceptable to show pictures of people about to burn to death.
