Set Pieces

TBH I think we just see how it goes, roll the dice and we win or lose. There is nothing to suggest our player can somehow change by coaching. Gomes made mistakes, we added a GK coach - did he improve? No. We then changed GK's. Which we could have done without this special superstar coach. We have Ade up front. Who coaches him, Ferdinand? LOFL, the guy doesnt know how to be a no.9. Allen and Jordan, other than shouting and getting in to arguments with Gattuso, what else do they do that previous managements havent!!!

So your suggesting we should just give up on coaches altogether and just tell the players to turn up on match days?

Best example in football is Cristiano Ronaldo.
At 18-20 a tricky winger with decent pace and little end product.By the age of 24 arguably the best player in the world, can score with either foot, fantastic free kicks, headers, simply everything.Nowhere nearly as talented as Messi, but equally productive because of his hard trainings

Let me provide some insight into the meticulous planning behind our current backroom setup:

Sherwood, 39, confirmed that he had held talks with Redknapp on Friday and will work part-time at the club.
"I will be here in some capacity," he said. "I'm pleased to have the opportunity to be involved at a great football club."
Sherwood spent nearly four years at White Hart Lane, making over 100 appearances for the club before being signed by Redknapp at Pompey.
Now retired, he is working as a football pundit and is involved with a magazine alongside Redknapp's son Jamie.
"I'm not sure how I'm going to be involved. It's only going to be part-time because the club won't be in my mind 100% of the time," added Sherwood.
"If someone would have asked me where I wanted to get back into football then I would have said Tottenham Hotspur.

"Spurs should not be at the bottom of the table."
As well as Sherwood, Redknapp also said he is keen to add another ex-Tottenham player to his backroom team.
"It's about time we got the younger guys involved. People like him (Sherwood) and Les Ferdinand have a lot to offer.
"Tim's got a terrific football brain. I'd like to tap in to that and get him on the coaching ladder and see if he likes it. Les, what a great fellow to have around. We've got to have English coaches coming in coaching at the top of the Premier League."

Sounds familiar?

Corner Statistics

Does anyone know where we can find Premier League statistics on the number of corners that each team have won and conceded, and the number of goals from corners that each team have scored and conceded?

Would make for interesting reading I think... our ratio must be the worst in the league...

19 corners today... ](*,)

Definitely been improving them over the past few weeks, Bale hitting the bar against Chelsea, Nelsen scoring against Bolton, Adebayor at the weekend. You can expect to see Kaboul getting a goal before the end of the season if we keep it up. Nice to see really!

Does anyone remember when we scored from 3 corners against Chelsea in that 4-4 draw!?

Those were the days...

Its not like we're going to somehow improve because of this thread so why even bother. In fairness corners offer a great chance for a snack/toilet break if you are watching at home. Even part of me today thought "What if you miss one of the most important goals in our history?" The other part just laughed "As if"

The corners weren't that bad - it was our choice to use them against a team who was clearly better in the air that was the issue.

I think we have improved immensely with our corners. The balls in are getting better I just think we lack that movement in the box but that will come through practicing.

Isn't that the point though? We dont practice them.

Most of today's corners hit the first man, utter rubbish. So easy to defend. A ball out for a corner is as good as a clearance against us. Just not good enough.

We did get our penalty from a corner to be fair. But otherwise we rarely looked threatening agaisnt a team that has been shocking at defending corners this season.
