Serious relegation fears

Look. It is not going to happen. Let's stop worrying about it...

We need Leicester to lose to West Ham and Manchester United and for their Chelsea result to be helpful.

And we need to get good results every week until the end of the season.

In the least Spurs-y season in a generation, it will end in the most Spurs-y of ways... by just missing out.

Not a popular view I know but playing far less games than the other runners gives Leicester a massive help in being able to keep their run going:

To date:

Leicester 38
West Ham 44
Spurs 48
Woolwich 48
Man Utd 50
Emirates Marketing Project 51

With that added strain I'm sure they would have folded by now, they have also not had many players on international duty

Right, but alternately, you could argue that the sides that have played more games have developed stronger squads for just that purpose.

In the end, all these after action reports about Leicester's impending triumph aren't really worth, it, imo. They might make history, in the most brilliant way possible - and in doing so inspire the fans of every single club in England to dream again, a feeling long forgotten amidst the dominance of the same four mega-money superclubs in recent times. It's anyone's game. With a bit of luck, and a united, spirited team, anyone can do it.

There's no underestimating how much that will mean to the fans who haven't dared to dream for ages. Well, the non-pessimistic ones anyway, which sadly excludes me. :p

But I CAN'T stop worrying about it! Don't get me wrong, I'll be happy with second, but I'll still be gutted at what could have been. If not for Kyle Walker's crazy own goal. If not for our defenders taking each other out. If not for all the shots that hit the bar or didn't cross the line, if not for all the penalties that weren't awarded. So close and yet so far.

The dreamer in me hopes that West Ham will get the run of the green and tonk Leicester 3-0 or 4-1, which'll put some doubt into their players and fans. From there, it isn't too much of a stretch for ManU to pull a good game out of the hat (and LvG sure isn't going to stick Ashley Young up front again). And suddenly it's squeaky bum time and anything can happen.

But that's why I support Spurs, rather than some other bunch up the road. I dare to dream, to hope, and start every season convinced that this'll be the one. The year that ends in 1, or 16 being 61 backwards. Until it's mathematically impossible, I won't give up hope.

GHod, but I'm going to be depressed next month.

Was out with my gooner mate last night who is convinced we are going to win the league. He is adamant that the Wet Spam will turn over the Foxes this weekend and we'll beat Stoke. I think he is just saying that in the hope that it doesnt happen..! He (as well as some other scum fans I know) are genuinely worried about us and the great set up we have at the moment!

And, of course, I feel everything you feel about this. The hope is killing me. Even if it is unrealistic hope. I am paralysed by it. I can't sleep thinking about it

So much so, I lie awake at night working out how West Ham can make enough room for Payet to be effective against them and whether they should start Caroll. And it shows how bad this is because I really despise West Ham in a completely irrational way. But somehow by thinking about this I can telepathically get Bilic to pick the right team and get the result. (Obviously I trust Pochettino to pick the right team so I don't need to do this for him).

So my previous logical posts about our chances was my therapy. But obviously it's not working so I will revert to writing batbrick crazy posts and start drinking again.

Sounds quite plausible to me :)

Tbf anything is still possible.

Dortmund seen keen to please Liverpool at every turn
Borussia Dortmund supporters will pay tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster before Thursday's Europa League match against Liverpool at Anfield by holding up a mosaic before kick-off spelling out '96' in black and yellow. (Liverpool Echo)

Why not just give them the tie and sit in the centre circle having a sing song.
What's the world coming to.

Is this the same Dortmund who on a weekly basis safely enjoy a massive standing area at their home stadium recognising Liverpool's dead fans, while the Liverpool fans actively oppose safe standing because one of their fans might stub their toe?

I think that is a little unfair.

Teams want to beat Leicester too but they are an effective unit and bloody difficult to play against. As we have found in our games against them this season.

I thought that this analysis by Troy Deeney on why they are so difficult to play against was a really interesting read

Good point re fan support. Wish our fans were as vocal regardless of result or how we might be playing. Not just when we're dominating.

Not too late for Leicester to revert to the mean.

http://statsbomb.com/2016/03/have-pochettino-and-tottenham-made-the-leap/
Aspects of Leicester’s success have been built from a remarkable sequence of beneficial skews: first scoring at an extremely high and unsustainable rate then following it up with a rate of goal prevention at a similarly high and unsustainable rate. Their underlying performance metrics peg them as a Europa League challenger and reversion to that level, if not lower, seems almost certain for next season.

Hopefully the last 5 games of this season. :D

If only someone on this forum had been making that point............

Whatever Leicester do and whatever we do this season has been brilliant and is not a fluke. Yes, we are 'ahead' of where we should be, but the foundations are strong and we are going to get stronger if Poch stays and is allowed to buy who he wants to buy. Obviously I would love the wheels to fall off Leicester's season, but after Sunday I decided to just be so very happy about what our team has done and what our football club has done. COYS!!!!!

We simply have to finish in the Top 3.

For the last 2 months my target for us has always been to at least finish 4th. Tonight that has just changed. Its all about finishing at least 3rd now.

It's happening again. Seville are decent but I think Liverpool will go and win the Europa now. While one of Citys biggest obstacles has fallen in the CL in Barcelona, they are just as capable of beating both Madrids, just leaving Bayern Munich.
If its a Bayern Munich v City final whoever finishes 4th might as well get ready for Thursday night football, so it better not be us!

I am a Chelsea fan this weekend!

4th only misses out on CL if City and Liverpool both finish outside the top four and both win the CL and EL respectively.

Cheers, funnily enough I just realised that seconds ago and posted a similar thing in the EL thread.

But as a lot of said, it should not be an issue, as we should be finishing at least 3rd from this position now. Problem is, this is SPurs we are talking about, and if sh#t like this is going to happen to any team, it is most likely going to be us

I'd say that's now a sure fire guarantee

Leicester are top of the league

machester city are in the European cup semi final

Liverpool beating Dortmund

Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!

Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...

The dead rising from the grave!

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together...
