First thing Mourinho did when he came in was play Alli close to Kane and Aurier as a winger. What happened today!? Alli was dropping into midfield ineffectually, and Aurier was played as an actual RB!
That may be the caseDele has been dropping deeper these last two games because Sissoko and Dier aren't good enough.

I think much of it has to do with Aurier! Sissoko ends up back there covering leaving Dier to do all the work. How long will we persist with the lost cause that is Aurier?

Aurier only plays as a winger when we have the ball, and yesterday we rarely did! And I think Alli was dropping deeper because we were getting overrun, as Moura and Son weren’t tracking their wing backs. Personally I don’t think it was a proactive choice, think it was just a consequence of struggling to deal with Chelsea’s shape.
I'd want Foyth to start personally. I know Aurier is there for his attacking talent, but he's nowhere near effective enough going forward to make up for his defensive shortcomings. Foyth is very good on the ball and even if we won't see many marauding runs he will give us quality to build from the back and support to the wide attacker. Might also give us the chance to add more creativity in midfield instead of having players there to cover for Aurier.I agree that it is an issue. It is the reason why I was advocating Sissoko for Moura before the game and at half time. At least then it would be his job to cover Aurier and we wouldn't be so exposed in CM.

More importantly there's a future for Foyth at the club where I struggle to see one for Aurier. Would hate to see us suffer through Aurier for an extended period of time only for him to leave and Foyth being left unhappy and not developing. True lose lose situation. Unless Mourinho sees us going into next season with Aurier as a starter and much improved. I don't see it, but I could be wrong.
If we're going to continue playing Aurier I don't understand why it's not Sissoko ahead of him in bigger games, that actually seemed to be working rather well when tried.
Give Foyth the instruction to get forward and he has a lot of quality on the ball even though he doesn't have blistering pace. Whatever we lose from Aurier not being there we can compensate for in midfield. My thinking too. The only obvious argument I can see against it is that we might sit back a bit too much if he is on one side and Verts on the other but Verts has shown that he can be a good attacking fullback in the past.
Not sure we're desperate at left back. Vertonghen is filling in rather well, Davies is competent and we have Sessegnon who could be developed in that role.We are desperate for two good FB's, our weakest part of the team.
Moura is also part of the problem. I don’t think he is very smart? In fairness, against Chelsea I think Sissoko had to cover there because Moura wasn’t tracking back and Aurier was constantly outnumbered by their wing back and wide midfielder. That one’s on Mourinho (though fair enough not to expect a back 3 from Chelsea!)
Yesterday was almost the quintessential Serge Aurier game. Switched off at key moments, lack of effort and lazy defending. Just need a senseless red card to cap it off.
He has some good qualities but he complete negates every good thing he does with his lack of concentration and effort.

I agreeI would never play him again and do everything in my power to get him out of the club in January, preferably in the first week.
So many of our issues begin with him.I agree
This is a guy with so much history of stupidity it’s scary
Yet I swear he gets a free pass from a lot of fans
My mate I go with rates him and I had to talk him through the minutia Of his errors yesterday just to highlight how poor he is
