Limited decision making, concentration. It's interesting though that those attributes are seen more as the player's fault, whereas limited technical ability is just limited talent.I agree. It's not ego, just a dangerous blend of confidence and stupidity. Aurier's certainly put the effort in, just without always being able to read the situation. Plenty of pace and talent, just not enough gumption to go with it. A reverse Milner, if you will.

He did improve on those areas though, and imo didn't get enough credit for that.

And maybe playing footy took his mind of things. Sometimes work is relief
See no reasons to excuse that at all. I hope he's grown as a person since then, for his sake and those around him. I think he may have, but difficult to know.
