The positive is that it tells Berahino that we are seriously interested in him. This may come in useful later as he is not going to sign a new contract
 
I don't know. Do they really want a tinkled off Berahino in their squad? His value is quickly diminishing, there's just no way he's going to be worth this kind of money next season. Clearly they aren't looking to sell, but I'm having a hard time understanding why.

Supposedly did part of it a few weeks back. Doesn't have to be done before signing the necessary papers anyway. Just put some clauses in.

In theory it's encouraging imv - discarding what is said publically as bravado i think behind closed doors if WBA had made it clear the player was in no way available this window we would have walked away long ago, the fact we continue to bid would suggest to me that it's an issue with the bid/structure of payments which is the hold up
