It's not standing per se we need to fear, it's prolonged standing. *shudders*
Be alert brothers, if you see someone standing for too long, do your duty.
unless they are standing in a picket line of course
As long as incidents we have seen at The London Stadium continue standing will be banned. Obviously there are problems in the seating areas and these could have been handled better. I personally do not want to stand but I have some sympathy for the vast majority of sensible people who do want to stand, but I fear for the safety of fans in certain circumstances.
Why would allocated standing be any different to allocated Seating - that area of the stadium would all be standing throughout any way. Also it appears that people sitting in other areas moved to there without tickets - using last night as an argument is just an excuse but you are right they probably will use it.As long as incidents we have seen at The London Stadium continue standing will be banned. Well they won't have a chair to throw for starters. As long as incidents we have seen at The London Stadium continue standing will be banned.
Unsafe standing it is then.Looks like the government will continue to ignore the wishes of fans and clubs
...the Government remain unmoved and in their Sporting Future report the DCMS offered no support for a wider introduction of safe standing.
The report said: “Since a rail seating section was installed at Celtic Park, there has been growing speculation that such accommodation could be introduced into Premier League and Championship football grounds.
“Government remains unconvinced by the case put forward for re-introducing standing accommodation at football grounds covered by the all-seater requirement, but will continue to monitor how it is working at Celtic.”

I can see why the government takes this approach. If they try and change things they will get criticism about showing disrespect to the Hillsbough victims etc. Why stick their necks out. I also doubt the clubs seriously want safe standing. It will cost money to convert without substantial increased income. Instead they will only get pressure from fans wanting old-style prices. The clubs say they want it to appease fans, but I think they are happy the way it is.
That lot clearly don't vote anyway. Nothing to lose.I can see why the government takes this approach.
