Rodrigo Bentancur

Pellistri just created a goal for Uruguay with a great dribble past lots of players. Apparently he is on loan from Man U to Alavez. Wee little darter
 
Just looking up a couple of good players on the pitch, to see if I can unearth a gem that nobody has heard of. One is a Real Madrid midfielder (Valverde) and the other is at Barca (Araujo).
 
So far our guy is playing as a deep DM. On paper he is in a 2 with Valverde, but he is the guy that drops deep to fill in at centre back when Godin rushes out to challenge (a bit like how Romero will rush out of position and need covering).

He walks about a bit because he is in control, always scanning what is going on.
Looks extremely hot in Uru tonight.
Then he bursts forwards to challenge/head when the time is right. Good so far.

Also, he takes goal kicks. The centre backs split very wide and he stands next to the keeper and Bentancur takes it.

whatabout the CB with ‘the beard’ who just took out Suarez? (Was actually Suarez backing in)

The caption said his first name was Jhon rather than John.
Edit, it really is Jhon Chancellor. That's not a name, that's just a typo. Plays for Brescia in Serie B.


Suarez was backing in whilst bent double, so of course was at elbow height.

There's another goal, a fairly easy overhead kick from 2 yards with no keeper present, from Cavani
 
Bentancur does a lot of gestures, telling people where to go and what to do, and then raising both hands to tell everyone to calm down. Very much like our own Hojbjerg.

He seems in control of the game, directing traffic, slow slow quick slow slow, very nice half from the lad. And a nice goal within a minute to start the show.

Cool look and name. Got the right frame, but clearly not all that if he's playing in the second division.

Sounds like an Italian traffic policeman. :)

 
He seemed to be conserving energy a bit second half, lost a couple of headers, maybe avoiding injury when leading by 4 goals, no need to go nuts... now taken off on 73 mins. Had a good match, generally really good play

Elaborate? Will he improve us and where do you think he fits?
 
looks strong and assured on the ball, big and tall like Dejan

hope he hits the ground running, young at 24 but older than Dejan plays more through the centre, will take a pop if it's on - an alternative to Hojberg and Skipp because he can drop back and clean infront of the back four but also carry the ball forwards, play it forward in advanced positions

Excited to see him under conte
