Roberto De Zerbi *OFFICIAL*

I just wanted to quote your post because it is absolutely true. Our fanbase is so emotional and reactionary they create the rollercoaster themselves.

I agree. And I’m not saying people shouldn’t enjoy what he’s done or be excited for the future. I am too. It’s feels like a really good fit for the club and I think he can turn us around pretty quickly.

But even Ange has threads about winning the league within 3 months and they weren’t started by me! It didn’t take long for the support to unravel and if RDZ doesn’t get his way then it could go a similar way.

I just hope RDZ works to the conditions that were set out when he accepted the role. It would have been clear what sort of budgets he would be working under and what our transfer strategy and process is. He would have known what empowerment he had within that overall structure which should all be setup to make him successful. As long as he understands that, then we should be OK. It is where there is a mis-match of expectations that seems to trip us up with our different managers.

I still think that the Spurs job is a great one to have personally. It's even better now as those expectations have dropped because of the recent league finishes. 60 points and some good cup runs is about where we need to be at.

He's the first manager since Poch that gets us, that wants to be a Tottenham manager and can see the clubs potential.
Let's hope the club realise how important and rare that is.

This this and this again. The Board needs to buy the kind of players which De Zerbi needs: players who provide magic and sparkle. No more young hopefulls for a while, just two or three really transformative stars in midfield and attack.
To be fair, I think Postecoglou was happy to be here and he saw the club's potential. He wasn't happy to be sacked, but that's another story. Conte wasn't happy but I'd say that his meltdown shows he did believe in the club's potential but he was frustrated with the people he had to deal with.

Spurs fans need to not buy the media narrative around RDZ

He's shown he can restrain himself and set the tune that makes sense. It's amazing having seen Conte/Jose/other narcissist pricks at work, zero chance one of them would have taken the job and 3 or 4 games out wouldn't have made some comment about "I didn't put us here, so don't blame me if it goes wrong", he came in and said we could win all the games.

Spurs is the biggest job he has had, it's the most resources he has had, and we won't have to sell any player he wants to keep (an issue in previous clubs), and he will have money to spend every window.

He is in a position of power now, they absolutely would have had to give assurances on summer spend to get him in, he's just saved them several hundred million plus the potential brand damage, Lange if he stays will have far less authority, and our owners must know (yes, I'm aware of who they are) this summer of all summers, they need to put their hands in their pockets (17th twice in a row is not a fluke).

RDZ will have a lot of say on who we buy/sell.

this is the fairytale start dezerbi needs - he now has the respect of not just the players and fans, but also management and the owners.
there was never a better time for any manager, than now, to get more involved in transfers and budget.

also management and owners can't let dezerbi fail - they will have a lot to put up with from fans and the media after what seemed like a miracle that dezerbi pulled.

perhaps this is the "sliding doors" moment the club needs and that we will all look back on from the future

Agree, think for once we may have got lucky in that way

- Had credit in the bank with fans, players and owners
- Has had two months to really sus out who are the players he wants to keep
- Due to brick season, quite a few of our players didn't make their WC squads
- With full preseason (see point above) and one game a week next season, gets more training ground time.

Hopefully, about time the football gods gave us just a little ..

the gods have given us a manager who has overcome a massive challenge. It’s enough to ask of them for now.

Interesting to hear and see that some have reservations on RDZ because of what he said and how he acted when at Brighton

To me he has shown he deeply thinks, has a strategy and commitment to stick with it, and is on the front foot. We should be a club that operates and acts as a leader, or one that aspires to be - i pray he gets given time and opportunity, slices of luck wouldn't go amiss either

Forza Roberto

I've not really paid too much attention yet. I disconnected from last season a long time ago. I remember him being big news at the heart of the Sassuolo miracle. Then at Brighton he always seemed like a promising Poundland Poch. But I'm generally jury out, lets see what he's about next season if he survives the internal turmoil over summer here.

He's tactically very well thought of (a bit higher than Poch), a lot of what they did under him was copied until everyone went the Arteta anti-football route, and his finish with Brighton is still the best they have ever had IIRC. 2nd in the French league is about the best result anyone not named PSG can expect.

I think his fall out stuff is overstated, and interestingly highlights the (lack of) ambition that clubs like Brighton have despite being everyone's darlings. He finished 6th in his first season and they sold Caicedo, Mac Allister, Trossard and Sanchez, the following season he agreed not to renew/extend his contract and left by mutual consent at end of season.

Personally think the guy has real ambitions, and if that is you, sitting at a club that despite you giving them European football, finishes (and the revenue with that) they literally have never had in their history, they gut the squad under you, don't think that's volatile behaviour.

It's the same reason Glasner is leaving Palace.

I got the vibe from some clips I've seen of him...(and he's trying to hide it), that he's feeling he's landed on his feet here, it's sinking in what a genuinely big club we are.
He's given himself such a chance with the goodwill and credit he's banked already
