Richarlison

Yeh Richy crying at the side of the pitch kinda paints a picture in which tells you something is up. Even then, many still make snide comments about him and dig him out.

So to answer the original questions, I don't see it as a tool worth using even if players wanted to, there is still very much misplaced cynicism (as proven on here) around mental health that means many wouldn't get off their backs anyway
I can't assuage a person's mental health, especially from a distance so I don't bother. I can only judge a player on things that are tangible like their performances.

I just know a lot of people with depression and bad backs claiming dole. Yet in the pub everyday dancing about.

People going to foodbanks and loading the bags into their 4x4.
People that are presumably telling a lie (linking they to the bad back, not depression - you can have depression and still be the life of the party). Those people wouldn't get away with it if someone from the local DWP office happened to come in for a drink or if someone reported them. A footballers life is under so much scrutiny and also has a currency on it for third parties that they are highly unlikely to get away with it. Certainly not on a regular basis across the industry. No least because people in their team that are genuinely suffering wouldn't accept it.

TBF, you have proven my point

Hope Richy gets a goal or two this weekend. I think this board needs it as much as he does

Same. Part of me thinks it would be good for him to get a start but on form I don’t think he deserves to in front of Solomon and it would be sensible to play Son in the CF position again as he looks more threatening and is a better finisher than Richarlison and we have to do what is best for the team/club first as cold as that might come across.

Is it worth giving him a week or two away from match day squads? Not that we are going to know if he needs it, but the option is there now that Veliz is training with the first team so could step in for now.

Spot the tory furious about the disadvantaged / disabled folk ruining the country by having the audacity to require help in a time where we have more inequality than ever before.

Perhaps people who aren't contributing to the GDP should just be exterminated, bloody anti growthers.
I hate tories almost as much as spongers.

I think he simply puts too much pressure on himself. A 60m Brazil player is a tag he feels he has to live up to. When he's not, he's unhappy, pressured. He just needs to be comfortable in his own skin. Not try to be anything. Keep his focus on things like how he strikes the ball, his concentration, his application. It is like he's somewhat obsessed by his standing and living up to it. That in itself is a distraction. I think Ange will have a word.

I'm not trying to be unsympathetic to him but it's just without really knowing him or speaking to him, making any kind of judgement of a players mental health would be highly speculative and borderline unfair imo. So I keep to the tangible elements, the things that are more overt and probable.

It's the same reason when people often speak about the good or bad character supposedly of a player it feels irrelevant to me. That judgement is usually based on second impressions and a desire to see a player in a particular way.

We will never truly know because we do not have personal contact with the players nor the knowledge of their personal lives to make any sort of judgement.

But he has clearly come out and said he has issues so its not speculative, he has said he is going to seek help. Added to that he was seen crying sat on the bench.

I don't think its a stab in the dark to show a huge level of empathy

Not aimed at you mate but the cynic in me thinks that had Kane said the same people would rally round in chorus when for me, anyone who comes out saying they have struggles should be rallied round and supported

He is spot on, money isn't this cure all and people need to get out of the idea that footballers have money and living their dream therefore the same things in life don't put strain on them.
I can’t listen to him talk without getting emotional
It’s an odd thing
But it’s all about his presentation

I just have a sense of clarity with him, he is just honest, calls it like it is. Alien to the game in many aspects as people seem to either over talk it or look for spacegoats. For someone to bowl into Spurs and say I know what I am getting into and the success and failure is on me and I take it all on....for me, thats absolute what we have needed for longer than Enic has been here, in almost forever.

Pride about the place comes from all of us, its been in short supply from the fans which is equally understandable as it is frustrating, but when you have that flag in the sand, this is my club mentality.....fcuk me its a turn on

Pride is key
Confidence is another
He talks with a confidence without being arrogant
He also uses positive language

He also comes across as empathetic. Is easily understood. With a dry wit that is subtle but effective.

My wife runs the county mental health early intervention team
The stories I get from her about the people they deal with (and it’s nothing sensitive or confidential) is scary TBH

it’s every walk of life, every kind of income. Majority is male
Quite a lot have a dependancy challenge
Most are welcome of the help and treatments
She has been to houses worth millions for people who needed help
I personally have driven her in the car at night when she was trying to find a guy who was now homeless
This isn’t about her or her colleague.. it’s very much about the issues people have can escalate quickly and affect anyone
Let’s all try to be better so that people can suffer a bit less and be a bit happier

Yeh mate, absolutely and your wife, without knowing her is amazing and I know that because I have a mate who committed suicide from what was a classic case of the outside...chipper had everything...inside had his demons. I think till you suffer that loss mental health is always seen cynically, maybe people build a barrier to it. Why I say your wife is amazing is because even those in the profession struggle to find the answers to the mind but do what they can without judgement of prejudice, we can all take a lesson on that. As you say in what I have highlighted everyone should try to be better

Anyway....the bleak stuff over

COYS and come on Richy....go grab some Spurs legacy brother....its there for you

Also the sly digs at the press are class

I like the Jordan and White show TBH, even for Talksport its ok, but White clearly wanted some Spurs bashing points and he dealt with them so good. The fans have a right to feel what they want and the fans will judge success...class and clever
