Radu Drăgușin

Ive don't really have an opinion on Radu as of yet tbh.

BUT what needs to be said is, if he hasn't got the qualities or is not suited to our style of play and/or system, who the fudge thought he was worth buying.

He is not an inherited player, he's one of the recruits, bought FOR Ange.

He was Ange's first choice for CB - Ange spoke about how transfers work at Spurs and specifically the Dragusin deal not long after that window closed.

He wants to work on his passing IMO. At times Sunday it felt like every time he'd had the ball, Wolves got possession back 10 yards further up the pitch.

His passing is pretty poor. Unsure he's suited to our team but I do like him as a defender and he's still young.

Remember he (presumably) had a pain-killing injection in his ankle to enable him to play through pain and risk further injury, just to help out the team, so maybe try to be a bit less harsh on him for this one match in particular.

I'm quite happy for Dragu to keep it simple. The last thing we need is for him to feel pressure and start overplaying it at the back.

Our current relegation form (4 from 24 points) requires a practical approach.

I'm quite happy for Dragusin to keep it simple for the reasons you point out. He's not currently good enough on the ball to not keep it simple.

Over time I'm not happy enough with even our backup CBs being players that need to keep it simple if we're wanting to play an ambitious style of football.

At some point he has to improve or be replaced. But it's certainly not a priority short term.

Have to pop a quick comment in here as its gone under the radar a tad last night, but I thought Radu rocked last night. He was a threat in the opposition box, was all action in our box and that goal line clearance from TAA was superb. Almost as good as his follow up super man dive! 😂

Dragusin looks like our most natural and the best defender at the club right now. He is physically dominant, is taking up good positions, he is marking players well and attacking the ball at exactly the right time. Can you imagine if he had the meltdown some predicted in this 2 month period, especially after his EL blip. He's actually been immense for such a young guy.

If one of the 3 youngsters end up better then fair play, but right now I would say that we should never worry about playing the Dragu/VDV partnership in the league as a rotation option. The next step for these 2 players to build that understanding like we see with Romero/VDV. In some ways, ditto with Romero and Dragusin because there might be times when we want to move VDV over to LB.

Nice problems to have.

People really over fudging react, he's 22, this is his first real season in PL, playing with a completely disrupted back line, he's doing fine.

Amazing how people forget the absolute fudge ups of Sanchez, Dier, Aurier, etc, our current back line is way better.

Indeed.

People need to have this attitude about a lot of our players who are still developing.

Aside from the obvious Gray and Bergvall at 18 and Mikey Moore at 17 we also have Udogie and Sarr as well as Dragu who are just 22 and then Johnson and VDV still only 23.

This is a young team and young teams will experience bumps in the road. What we are developing here under Ange though could end up being special.

What's really interesting is he knows it ..

Quote from last night -> "I'm so happy they're at our football club and you know, in two or three years' time, I just pray to GHod I'm the beneficiary of their talent, mate, because if somebody else is getting it, I won't be happy."

Think I mentioned elsewhere, really good group, with probably 3-4 that the ceiling is extremely high on.
