Quickest way to lose weight?

EVERYONES body and requirements are different. you dont have to beat yourself up with the cereal if you dont want to. its all about what your body needs, what you take in and what you burn.

if you dont excercise and you enjoy your fatty / sugary stuff then your already fighting an uphill battle. in situations like that the best thing you can do is the little stuff, walk to your local shop...do more stuff round the house....REALLY chew your food to a pulp

eating Maccy D regular and beans on toast without doing any excercise is begging for trouble.

you dont really suffer with weight issues in that context , what you suffer with is your life style

if you excercised all day long then you can practically eat what you like. take the swimmer phelps...he needs up to 8 to 10 THOUSAND calories a day when he is training....thats alot of big macs and southstands cheese cakes / cocaine that he can get away with not have a weight issue...he may become diabetic and get sick through vitamin deficiency or something like that but weight gain wont be a problem

Agreed, it's a lifestyle thing, but isn't that the case with everyone that's overweight. My problem is not having the time/inclination to count calories and too busy/lazy to get on the treadmill every night. Plus liking the odd beer and curry.

There's a guy I work with that has beans on toast every day (more than me) and goes to the pub every lunch for at least one beer, maybe two, he does less exercise than me yet he probably weighs 3.5 stone less. The only reason I can see is that he doesn't have his old lady cooking up delicious curries, chicken kievs and what have you. My problem is that I have no desire to give up these nice meals in exchange for rabbit food. I guess the answer is more exercise and smaller portions but when there's left overs on the hob it's hard to resist. This is why I find the cereal the best one for me as I know what I'm having in the day and I still get a nice meal in the evening. It's just hard sticking to it for any length of time.

Don't want to sound stupid but when you say fasting for three days do you literally mean you're not gonna eat a thing for 3 days?

Yep! :)

Actually on the 5+2 you can have 600 calories.....a small breakfast and a snack in the evening.

The only thing that will pass my lips from this morning to Wednesday evening is black coffee and water.

The first day is the worst then it's fine, if you are stubborn like I am! :)

When i'm doing 'normal' 5+2 I tend to go 24 hours from dinner at around 7pm, and then I'm asleep and I just miss breakfast and lunch the following day, then an evening meal as per usual. That's really easy for me now.......your stomach shrinks and you don't miss the food as much as you think.

My main thing is boredom. I'm a night owl and I tend to get hungry at 9-10pm.....that's the worst part of the day for me

So then not eating breakfast and lunch is perfect for you!!! \o/

It's the same for me, I get to eat whatever Mrs southstand1882 want to eat, so the diet doesn't affect anybody else

Lets be honest, it's easy to lose weight. I laugh when people say they've lost 2 pounds in a month or sommat. That's a large crap!

well i am no expert on the topic but i lost 22 pounds in 2 month with ease and no diet...just driving a bike in the evening ! I ate everything i want but i cut a little bit my rations and started driving gym bike in the evening after i had my last meal of the day. Friend of mine suggested me that i should do quick short exercises like driving it for 5 minutes then rest 1 min and then again... or driving a bike until you do 50 calories and then stop 1 min and again. First i was doing 350 calories a day,it took me about 40-60 mins, and now i am comfortably doing 750 cal a day...if you add about 500-700 calories you lose during sleep you feel 'lighter' every day not to mention the good night sleep :)...and its important that you exercise healthy so that your heart rate is about 120-150 bmp depending on your age...heres the calculator for it http://www.machinehead-software.co.uk/bike/heart_rate/heart_rate_zone_calculator_abcc_bcf.html

i can just say that i am really suprised how easy that was in global,of course that in the first two weeks you will have to make youreself do it after a busy day but later,i swear, you will crave for it! :D i even bought a mountin bike and now i am wondering why it took me 30 years of chubbiness to try this :D

KD giving yourself a deadline to lose a certain amount of weight isn't the best approach. It encourages crash diets and unhealthy eating habits (like only eating 1 meal a day).

You want something sustainable so it's more difficult for you to put the weight back on, and getting into a good routine. It's not as if you're over weight, so there's really no need to be drastic.

Just google some healthy recipes, allow yourself one cheat day a week (but don't go too mental) - and you'll be fine.

Nearly a week in and i've lost a grand total of.................nothing.

My fault though being that i haven't gone to the gym this week but i've been having 1 proper meal at around 13:00 and maybe a snack at 19:00. Proper meal is usually a big plate of Pasta or yesterday i had a big plate of meatballs and chips which was quite nice. The snack is usually garlic bread (half a baguette which is around 300 calories). So basically i'm eating at most 1200 a day. Next week i'm going to be far more strict.

it doesn't help that the portuguese cafe right next to my office does a lovely Cod fish and potato casserole that i can't get enough of. I'm dreading to think what the calorie count is on it but i'm hoping it isn't too bad.

and my girl is half Moroccan so she's adamant on packing me a traditional Moroccan lunch for work which consists of lots of meat and oily products. Being that she stated she doesn't want me losing weight i'm starting to think she's doing it purposley:-k

Completed my fast last night. I've been drinking 3 litres of water a day to remain hydrated and I've lost 6 pounds. And I feel great!

I'll add a couple of pounds back no doubt but now ill be back to 5+2 and the final 5/6 pounds will drop off

You're not being serious? 3 litres of water and nothing else? for how long...

KD - 1200 seriously?

I was eating 1200 a day and lost a grand total of 2kg in a month. I decided to up my intake to 2k and since then lost 5kg in a month. Of the 5kg 3.5kg was fat loss.

You need to up the intake to a level not below BMR but below Daily expenditure.

KD - I would not weigh myself after such a short time

And also make sure you weigh yourself in the same spot at the same time

Personally, I wouldn't weigh yourself more frequently than once every 2 weeks

If you are on 1200 a day, you will lost a bucket load of weight

Perhaps check the calorie measurements too. A slice of bread is 100 calories (half a baguette with garlic butter could be 6 times that)
