But this is the thing. All of this "problems exacerbated by the extremely wealthy", "policy agendas favouring big business"....it is lazy tropes that are just as poorly thought through as racism/anti-semitism.
I've lived 59 years on this planet, and I can tell you there is nothing 'lazy' or 'trope-like' about the things I am saying.
Do you really, really want to to get into a discussion of the fairness of CEO bonuses versus their 'performance' versus the people who actually do the work?
Do you really want to get into a discussion regarding the growth of wealth inequity globally and how it really ISN'T the fault of PoC?
And let me cut you off before you blast an insult my way, I am all for people being able to make whatever money they can and want to. I am not anti-wealth whatsoever. I have spent 40+ years working with people who are enormously wealthy in their field. What I am against is unfairness.
'Poorly thought tropes' eh?
Just one source here...there are others.
https://inequality.org/facts/global-inequality/#:~:text=Inequality has been on the, people living in extreme poverty.
Would you rather policy agendas didn't favour big business? Made it difficult to do big deala in this country? Taxed the hell out of big corporates? Made life difficult for them in this country? Then what would happen? We would just all be happily poorer together after all the jobs and investment have f*cked off elsewhere?
Of course not. That is why I said there are nuances to the discussion. The issue is that globally, the corporations and uber-wealthy have rigged a system whereby if they do not get enormous tax breaks then they pack their brick up and toddle off to somewhere which is even more favorable. It is a far greater issue than just Britain or the US, it is a global problem and we are in a cycle which (IMO) is approaching it's peak point.
Cuts always impact ordinary people first via services? Yes, they do. As public services are provided by public funding so if public funding needs to be cut then yes, its the services that get cut. I will tell you what though, goimg after big business and the wealthy and making it unfavourable for them here will lead to one guaranteed outcome: a huge drop in public revenue.
It isn't even about 'going after', it's about balancing and being fairer.
I am not naive, I understand that we are in a phase of accelerated and exceptionally aggressive capitalism that is dragging us to the very precipice of monopolies. Several corporations and wealth groups basically control everything. How did we get here. That's not a direct question BTW, it's a very broad and general one which I believe we could all answer pretty easily. And I'll tell you this mate, immigration and refugees are nowhere near the top reasons for inequity of wealth.
What problems have the ultra wealthy actually caused? You are ranting about people just saying "its all their fault" directed at immigrants when are you not just doing the same at another demograhic?
That cannot be a serious question.
If you are seriously asking me to explain this, then I fear we have reached the end of the conversation. Either that, or IF you have any GENUINE interest in seeking answers to the question, do some research (there are loads of answers, and BTW, you already agreed with one such example).
BTW, you might disagree with what I'm saying, but I do NOT 'rant' whatsoever in that reply.
You asked a question, I answered it, you clearly did not like or agree with the answer, and there we are. Life. I can accept that.
I would, however, ask that you please try to be a little less sensationalist/hubristic in such moments.
