Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

The real issue was that Starmer and other cabinet ministers made clear and definitive public statements on an issue without being anywhere near over the full facts of it, resulting in yet another sh*tshow being played out in public. Its becoming a regular theme for this government.....and why public confidence in them is so low.
The issue for me is that they clearly monitor social media hence how we have more arrests for social media then anywhere else in Europe.

They employ researchers and assistants. So I think it was not a mistake but deliberate.

I think you're lavishing Starmer and his cronies with too much competence. Honestly think Starmer read a few sentences about this guy and decided it was a good case to spaff some sh*t about in public to show Labour's "social/international justice" credentials to prop up waning support drifting to greens.....i think there's currently a genuine "oh sh*t, f*ck me" discovery going on in No. 10 as the full facts about this guy are coming out.....

I think you are crediting Started with being incompetent rather than evil.

But I got an evening of football to look forward to, so shall be back for my 10 minutes of political daily gg chat later.

Just wear some tin foil if you don't already pal. Stay safe.
Why.

Going down the path of making fun rather then engaging with the topic.

We have more arrests then anywhere else in Europe for social media posts.

Politicians do employ researchers and assistants.

Almost like making fun and trying to disparage an opposition opinion you want the status quo to continue. I might be wrong there though of course.

Turns out his sister said just as bad stuff.

But back to him, the are tweets he has saying he wants all police officers shot.

He of course has the right to plead not guilty but I do hope he at least stands trial. Probably not in front of a jury as Lammy is getting rid of those. Probably before a friendly judge though, what am I saying, they are all friendly to foreign criminals.

The irony is, that this dude got locked up by the Egyptians for his social media activity. This resulted in a big human rights outrage and the government granted him British citizenship as a result while he was in prison.

Now hes out and in the UK everyone has decided to actually have a look at his social media and a lot are now "f*ck me, maybe the Egyptians were right after all" and there's now an investigation within the foreign office as to how this social media activity (you know the stuff he got locked up for and was in the news for - e.g. he had some peace award revoked in 2011 due to posts about Israel) were "missed"

Couldn't make it up.....

No, you were right.

I believe that if modern agitators were not as influential, the balance would be far easier to find personally. But it is now very very hard to see a place where it can happen, and yes, in this era it appears (at best) utopian sadly.
It's got nothing to do with who is saying it or who is hearing it.

You can't ever have the legality of a statement measured by whether or not someone chooses to be offended.

Religious fudgenuts have always found blasphemy offensive. They would have been able to ban any related discourse if we used that measure - it cannot work.

More worryingly, this isn't the first time.

Starmer appears to have a habit of not looking past the very surface layer of anyone or anything.

I'm sure Chagos sounded like a solid political win until the details were revealed. I'm sure Mandelson seemed like a solid appointment, etc.
