Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

You can't claim benefits if you have £16k in the savings or investments or earn over £423 a month.
So not sure where this "don't need it" comes from.

This must be somewhat new as my Dad had to sign on to get his full state pension when he retired.

"Illegal migrants". At least pensioners have paid into the system. But people have no bother punching down on them.
nobody punches down on pensioners that I've seen, whereas asylum seekers(not illegal under international law) and people on PIP or UC get slaughtered regularly on tv and in the right wing papers, even working people on UC ffs, the point is it's neither the pensioners of the usual spacegoats that are to blame, the economy is set up to syphon wealth upward, the wealth gap is a cause of stagnation, it's damaging to the economy and society.

How new cause last year I couldn't claim a penny?
Also isn't it universal credit?

This is new jobseekers so not UC. I was paid it for a number of months from Autumn 2024. It is taxable so not means tested.

Labour did tinker with qualifying rules but it is still not means tested. I will qualify from April but right now i don’t. They love to make things convoluted but I’d be pretty peeved if someone gave you a bum steer on claiming it.

It certainly has, though infantry still has a part to play. We haven't reached full-on drone-vs-drone warfare yet. 10 to 1, Russians to Ukrainians, is the casualty ratio in that conflict. Not confirmed officially, but ITKs are saying this is accurate or close to it.
Infantry is a hard sell based on your opponents tactics. I'm sure man is quite prepared to pitch his wits against another, but being chased down by a tiny drone, is unfair. Not from a tactical pov, just from a 'my life is worth more than this' pov. The cost is massively lopsided.

And the rate things are developing....front lines won't exist.

Is that the one if you have paid a certain amount of ni in the 2 years previous you can claim some back? Only lasts for a few months or so.

In fact i will challenge it as i should have no credits from 2024 which would make me eligible.

It was in reply to gutterboys post.

But boomers stealing all the wealth is a common theme in comments section on the net. Just go on youtube and look at any vid of the financial situation in france etc... loads of comments about pensions.

People forget these are your parents and grandparents. When they die where does that wealth go?

Boomers haven't 'stolen' all the wealth :) They've just lived thru a period of wealth creation. So in the main, many are comfortable. That's just a fact.

I don't think the majority have done anything outrageous, for one to be angry, or jealous of in any way. More a coincidence of luck and timing.

Most can tolerate a bit of a squeeze from the treasury... especially compared to others.

I can only assume you Gutter Boy on ignore.
Smart move mind you.

I don’t believe that is totally accurate. You need two consecutive years nino contributions prior to a claim to get the means tested new jobseekers, and can only get that for six months anyway.

I had full new state pension entitlement at 50 but I forfeited a very useful 2nd state pension - which nobody ever mention- to get it. So literally no point me paying national jnsurance.
i can’t edit this post for some reason but i want to reiterate it is NOT means tested. I missed out the word “not” in this post.
