Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Absolutely. People are angry. People are fed up. People are tired of being told that if you are white, male, past your 20s, believe in social conservatism and pride in your country that you're a gammon, pale, stale and male, that your opinion not only doesn't matter, that it is something that must be fought against as "dangerous" or "extreme".

People are tired of being told they're brain washed by extremists but then "women can have a penis" must be accepted or you're a homophonic bigot. And we are the ones "brain washed?"

I didn't vote for anyone last election. But I am absolutely voting for Reform next time. Why? Because the traditional parties have utterly failed and exist in an empty vacuum of scandal after scandal and broken promise after broken promise. As a social and economic conservative, the greens and Corbyn are not the answer. The alternative is Tommy R and the far end of extremism. So there is only one place for me to go. A bit too far to the right than i'd like, but the best landing place there is right now.

The lesson from history is that Hitler was supported by the majority of the German people. They tolerated en masse the segregation of ethnic and religious minorities, and disabled people. Why? Because France and others pushed economic punishment and political isolation on Germany as punishment after WW1, by the time of the rise to power of Hitler, economic conditions in Germany were horrific. Hitler put food on people's table. Hitler restored pride in Germany. Hitler was the only option people had to survive and feel safe in the end. That's the warning from history.

Did he ask him why getting rid of Muslims would fix all that?

Because that’s what the Robinson and the other march organisers think, and they assume everyone who came to support them agrees.
Clive's mate won't find the right answers at this type of event. If he feels comfortable engaging with this type of 'community' he's on track to become just like them.

So despite the history, despite the lesson, despite the warning.....you will walk down that path? Give your head a wobble

I've suggested before that maybe looking inward has a greater chance of some hope....and moving you to feel better.

If people think Farage et al are looking out for them (ultimately) they have a massive blind spot. (That's before you get to people like yaxley-lennon). It's not hard to compile a list of things they've said that any decent human being would think is plain wrong/nasty. Yet people will see past that because they're going to be 'delivered' something (what is that going to be?)

Yes, there are problems with the country, there always have been BUT we've rarely seen such reactionary times.

People are annoyed/angry simply because finances are tough, and are detached, disenfranchised, unheard, lonely because their reality is now formed via their smartphone...you can't spend that many hours per week on there and it not influence/define you (especially when taking into account the way SM is coded). The timeline of SM and what we see now is no coincidence.

I do think a lot of this is about the concentration of wealth in the top 5%, and specifically how big chunks of the middle classes have been push down to lifestyles of minimum wagers. Teachers and university lecturers needing food banks and having to sleep in their cars etc. Taking away the bargain that education and hard work will deliver material rewards. That journey over the past 15 years has led to huge disenfranchisement with society.

Now @markysimmo will disappear, as Marky is not very good at backing his statements up with fact. Remember this guy posted lies on here that the Stockport killer was a Muslim. He has form for spouting lies and running off.

Yes i will because its about choices narrowing to the least worse option. Didn't vote last time because darn if I was lending my vote to the tories and while I wasnt going to endorse them I was indifferent to Starmer and co getting in as I thought they seemed relatively harmless technocrats that would just keep things ticking along steadily. Unfortunately I was wrong, the chaos, corruption, utter contempt, constant scandal and flip flapping from one policy disaster to another is as bad as under Johnson. They need booting out. But they are worse than Johnson as at least he had Sunak running the economy. What we have now is a slower, prolonged crash than under Truss. Inflation is growing, growth is flat lining and jobs are going.

So you tell me. Where do I go as a social and economic conservative that wants the current government out?
