Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Musk is interesting because there is now a lot of hate towards from people who thought he was the saviour.
His following has almost flipped.
He’ll not last another year in an alliance with Trump. He’s served his purpose now , and Trump can’t stand having anyone in his orbit who has a bigger ego and demands more attention than him.

That's the hope isn't it, that all these super egos burn each other.

I generally don't listen to what Trump says.

I despise the man, I avoid the news as much as I can, most of it is BS on both sides of the political spectrum.

And there is nothing much to be happy about.

I, too, despise him and yes, W.W.E. media rules...but you'd do well to investigate project 2025!

I know that and you know that, but a lot of people don't, and this is where I think the Democrats failed spectacularly.
They allowed the narrative about them to be focused on stuff that is not as important as the economics of life.

As I said in another post, if anyone really thinks that any politician or political figure is really interested in the common man they deserve all they get.
America has declined economically within the real economy in the last few years. Its been really tough on average Americans.

I actually have huge respect for Sunak and Hunt as to how they handled our economy in comparison - you look at so many other countries where inflation and economic instability were allowed to run rampant- in the US you had mid-sized to small banks failing left right and centre. You had rampant inflation but flat wage increases. Continental Europe has also really suffered economically.

In a way the fact Labour got in with a big landslide is a testament to the job Sunak and Hunt did. People tend to turn to extremists when they're under the cosh. The global trend is to turn to far right or far left. The UK massively bucked the trend in voting in a centre-left party. That only tends to happen when people feel safe.

Never forget the US is a country the size of mainland Europe.
Far easier to divide and keep divided.
Rather not, without reading anything it's going to be a shower of shyte.
If only it were simply a brown shower...it threatens to be worse than that.

Why am I not surprised.

How bad do you have to be to lose to him....

I will look at it at another time, or watch you youtube on it, easier for me watch things like this than read them.

In fairness it is a massive document and I have only read several 'edits' of it.
The issue in the US is that politics is fought on personality and buzz phrases, not policy. Had the dems got, say, Duane The Rock John son as a candidate/VP candidate, they'd have been roaring. The other truth is that Americans would rather not be governed by someone without a penis...being led BY a penis is apparently OK...

Just watched a youtube video on it.
America is f*cked and heading for civil war or the break up of the USA.

Also read that the Democrats lost something like 15 million votes...

What do the democrats think was going to happen if you played identity politics, pushing CRT in schools, backing and being backed the entertainment industry that has been woke as f*ck and repeatedly stated if you don't like it you are a racist bigot... Supporting BLM who are pushing communist ideology hiding behind the deaths of a tiny number of such as the break up of nuclear family...

People just don't understand how much damage this woke agenda has done to the democrats and the people of the UK, just don't understand what a battle ground it has been.

And the other problem is, people don't vote for weak leaders, how many times are the Democrats going to ignore WWE slug fest that is the way they do politics, especially Trump.

Like I said, Starmer is weak, people didn't vote for him, he got less votes than Corbyn, and if Reform wasn't involved the Tories would have won again. Starmer is going to to wiped out in the next election, the entire front bench of the Labour party are blithering idtiots... Lammy is a disgrace as a foreign minister and giving the Chagos islands away was pathetic.

Who wins the next election is going to be down to what happens between the Tories and Reform. Labour have already lost the next election.

People laugh at me and take the p*ss out of me, and I don't care, becaues it is that attitude that helped give the world Trump and project 2025. You are not listening and being insulting to the people who are telling you there is an issue.

It's clusterf*ck of epic proportions and the left only have themseves to blame.

There is a discussion to be had in the wider sense. I have long, long said that the typical right-wing agenda convert over the last 8-9 years has been the person who doesn't actually want to have to say anything much about anything, doesn't actually care one way or another (live and let live attitude) but resents being framed as 'right wing' because they don't 'speak up' or represent a belief publicly. I DO think the likes of Cambridge Analytica, Tik-tok, etc, saw how that frustration could be weaponised and used as a tool of further division/middle-path erosion.

I actually have a degree of sympathy for (say) a 57 year old block from (say) Harpenden who simply wants to get on with it, have a spot of dinner, get a pint and occasionally watch a Carry On film yet who suddenly finds themselves judged because they have not implicitly and loudly spoken out for, say, climate change initiatives. I get their frustration and I think we have to work harder.
But equally, it is incumbent on them to realise that they are being weaponised. Because most people who (say) passionately support a climate change initiative don't label people as right wingers if they don't speak out loudly with them. The agents of chaos within whip that division up and everyone tumbles into it. Everyone. Even I do sometimes, before I take a moment to crawl out. Anger and frustration is not an excuse, albeit a lack of education most definitely, and in this regard there have been systemic failures in public education for decades.

And yes. It has long been the dems issue, that they can never quite adjust to the game being played.

But they are able to do it, becaues the likes of Just Stop Oil are p*ssing on everyone feet expecting to people to agree with them... When really, all it does is, push people away, makes it hard for the people of real knowledge of the situation to get their message across becasue of the actions of well intended m*rons who are oblivious to the negative effects of their actions they cause. Just Stop Oil, are only preaching to the quoir. It's always a small minority generally that ruin it for the rest.

I would also force a change regarding climate change, between who the two sides are regarding the debate. As it is btween those that report the science accurately and with due diligence and those that don't.

Then there is the snobbery of the experts too. Just look at that study regarding brexit voters and their supposed intelligence and their lower intelligence meant they were susceptable to beliving lies. I actually read that report and the authors themselves couldn;t tell what a lie was and regarded those told by remains as "exagerations"... So when Alan Johnson turned around said that 2/3's of manufacturing/business (can't remember which) rely solely on the EU, it turns out it was something like 12%-15%... This wasn't a lie according to the study just an exgeration... Not to mention so much else that was wrong with it.

Which then pushes more people to listen to the likes of Farage etc etc

It is not incumbant on anyone to realise anything. You can't expect people to have indepth knowledge to know when they are being taken for granted.

I believe wholey in the freedom of the press, but they don't have the freedom to BS, that all of them do. They then hide behind the freedom of the press to justify this BS. If I had my way, nearly every news outlet would be shut down, including Sky, BBC, Channel 4, GB News, and every national newspaper. Becaues of the BS they spread.

I also think Parliament should be forced to show all the figures when making claims at question time... Like when MP's this will create on average £3000 per person for the economy... Okay... Show us this distribution on how you got this average, and show it properly... And this should be equally applied to news reporters to whether they be published or televised.

I digress...

You just simply can't put on people to know they are being used. People will also vote knowing they are being used, becaues the other side has called them racist, bigot, mysogonyist far right or vice versa... And you are right youtubers do have influence too... Why I was saying that shoving woke into everything cost the Dem's so dearly, even if they wasn't pushing it themselves, just because it was associated with being "left".... No one is going to listen to you if p*ss on their feet, ruin everything they enjoy, they will look to those on line saying exactly the same thing and when they say f*ck the woke left/democrats most of their followers will do the same. Or not vote, which probably cost the Dems dearly.

I'm not saying I disagree with you as such, I just think the expectation is, that people should be give all the facts and allow them to make an informed choice.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

You just don't get it do you. And you're trying to make the claim that i think he said those specific words.

It doesn't work like that.

Starmer labelled protests as far right too, not just the rioters. South Port protests were about knife crime plenty of footage of Starmer getting called out for knife crime when laying the reefs. So anyone who supported these protests against knife crime are far right too.

As for the later riots and protests regarding immigration etc. Not all the rioters were right wing thugs either. But they were rightfully arrested

If you throw far right around like confetti at a wedding, then you are going to tarnish a lot of people.

What are your thoughts on Dawn Butler retweening a post that called Kemi Badenock a white supremisist in blackface and also referring her to a coconut?

Not seen any of lefties call her out for her racist comments..
Well that is what you wrote. You wrote that Starmer labelled the British as all being extreme right wing. All British people is WHAT you wrote. Did you miss some meds or something mate.

I've been a member of this board since pretty much it was set up and I have never used the ignore button. Until today that is.
Awww don't like someone calling you out for lying?

Rather than apologising, you throw your teddies out the pram and put me on ignore.

Pathetic.

Consider what you just wrote. You stated that Starmer labelled the "majority" of British people as far right. What nonsense. But hey, I guess it makes sense in your addled head.
Amazing... I think the word was majority....

So happy you put me on ignore...

Just another sad little liar.

A lot of that is me, and I suspect that is the majority of people.
I don't actively go seeking out wrongs or causes but if I'm in a situation where I can influence the debate I will try to.
A big, big problem though is that people are afraid to speak up because they are labelled.
This is especially a problem on the "left" or "progressive" side, and I don't like using labels like that, where it does feel very much like you have to be 100% in agreement, where everything you say and do and have said and done will be scrutinised and woe betide if you get it wrong.

You need to take people with you, because what you coerced people into agreeing with in public isn't always reflected in the privacy of the voting booth.

I'm sure it is, and I've heard multiple reports of people saying this exact thing is the reason they voted for him. But they are about to find out soon that eggs will be the least of their worries (and eggs will be more expensive too!). The US economy was doing pretty well by most measures - inflation low, job numbers good, stock market riding high, GDP growth was good - but it is about to get utterly fudged up again as this is what Republicans do. Take a good economy and destroy it by giving rich pricks all the money, and then later the dems come in a clean up the mess. I'm not sure the 2nd part will happen this time though. The dems won't get in again as free elections are now a thing of the past over there.
It is an often repeated point on here that those controlling the message have the real power and those controlling the message are those same rich pricks.

Isn't this exactly why they lost, telling everyone the economy is great whilst voters continuously keep saying they felt poorer. Isn't what you've described basically trickle down economics? GDP is an outdated measure now, people should be looking at more quality of life measures like health care, numeracy, literacy, clean air etc.

Dems should have gone for Bernie when they had the chance, he would have been a great candidate. They'll probably do more of the same next time around.

You've said a few times you don't believe there will be another election again, I really don't see that happening at all.

Re the never another election and some of the other more hyperbolic rhetoric, most of it is very unlikely to happen and when it doesn't it's an open goal.
See, the dems lied, they made us out to be monsters and we're not.
They tried to scare you into not voting for us.
You can't trust them, they will say anything to get your vote.
The dems need to get much smarter real quick.
