Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

So whats peoples take on Hojbjerg? Alot of Saints fan are pointing the finger at him for their bad form earlier in the season and are saying he was toxic to the rest of the group and a bad captain?

I think that a lot of that is just bitterness about him wanting to leave, him wanting to join us and turning down other clubs will cloud their judgement even more.

He's been playing regularly, even after losing the captaincy, so his form and leadership skills can't have been that bad.

I'm very supportive. We can't afford to spend £50m - £60m on a single signing this summer so if we can bring in a PL proven DM who also has leadership skills, can pass a ball AND be at a good age....and all for say £25m, I think thats a great deal for us given the gap in teh squad in that position.

I think that's a factor, but I'm not sure to what degree. We've signed players before where it's been a different story.

Another factor is that deep/defensive midfielders tend to polarise a lot of fans, it's a difficult role to judge. I prefer looking at the opinions of people who I think has more knowledge about football. Harry Brooks (HB_HeadCoach on twitter) was very positive about him for example.

We’ve offered £15m.
